About This Pub
Ah, the Church Inn – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you get past the initial quirks. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, community-hearted spirit that's hard to beat; the landlady sounds like a absolute star, always chatting away and making sure everything runs smoothly for events like their bonfire nights, which apparently drew a massive crowd and were loads of fun. The prices are spot on too, and folks are raving about the food being tasty and good value, making it a solid choice for a casual get-together. On the downside, though, it's clear the place needs a bit of TLC – some reviewers mentioned it looking a bit grubby inside and out, and there were grumbles about staff not knowing the ins and outs of what's on offer, which might put you off if you're after something specific. Plus, it can get a tad noisy with the locals and their little ones, and seeing people bring in outside grub like fast food doesn't always sit right. All in all, if you're up for a genuine, down-to-earth pub experience in a quiet spot, it's worth checking out, but maybe go on a quieter night and keep your expectations realistic.

Allowing outside food, like from fast-food places, sometimes disrupts the atmosphere

Nice pub, reasonable prices. Off the beaten track.
A great place to take somebody elses wife.
The whole pub needs a deep clean, including outside. Shame as it is in a lovely location, but when you employ kids who do not really know what bitter is available or even what the WiFi code is, what can you expect? Noisy locals with noisy kids can bring in MaCDONALDS meals and take over tables other customers could use. Even the toilets are manky. On the plus side, it is dog friendly.
Popped in on Sunday chatted to becky the landlady as I used to work there asking about how the bonfire and fireworks went the night before. Everyone loved it and over 2000 people came. What struck me was her biggest concern was about the local community and not being too loud and tuned everything down and music off so residents could have a quiet night after it was over. That right there is what makes this pub great with great community spirit and customer care. Would give 10* see you soon

Amazing night at the bonfire and fireworks. Well organised and the fireworks were excellent. Food served was tasty especially the Tata ash. One criticism and only a small one as this is a free event, maybe some portaloos next year to increase the capacity for the weak bladdered.
Food is good and value for money.
Outside needs a little bit of love and attention like it was a few years ago.
Overall an ok/ nice experience.
Would we return? Yes :) first post gave church in 3 stars.
Second time visited food was spot on. Staff lovely. Seems new owners have settled in nicely 🙂 worthy of 5 stars. Went on a Sunday 3 courses....
See pics. All for £12.50!!! And was lovely. Felt like I was robbing them!
Will be back in the near future.
