About This Pub
Ah, Castle Tavern in Scarborough – it's one of those pubs that really sticks in your mind, you know? From what folks are saying, it's a cracking spot for a laid-back evening, especially if you fancy a pint in a place buzzing with genuine characters and a warm welcome that makes you feel right at home. The staff seem top-notch, going out of their way to make sure everyone's looked after, and it's heartening to hear stories of lost items being safely kept behind the bar. Plus, being inexpensive means you can enjoy a few without worrying about the tab. On the other hand, it's not without its flaws – sometimes they run out of drinks, leaving you with slim pickings, and the decor could definitely use a refresh to shake off that outdated feel, with a few safety niggles like exposed cables that might put some off. All in all, if you're up for an authentic, no-nonsense pub experience with a mix of highs and lows, it's worth popping in, but maybe keep your expectations in check for the finer details.

It's got a lively, character-filled atmosphere that's perfect for a memorable night out with plenty of laughs.

They take good care of your belongings if you leave them behind, which is a real relief in a busy spot.

Pints are decent and the prices are spot on for an inexpensive evening without breaking the bank.

Overall, it's not the most inviting place at first glance, with some reviews noting it as not the nicest spot.

Called here for a drink. The only lager on tap was carlsberg ran out of everything, no red wine or tonic. Not the nicest of places
Well where to begin with this place. Had a weekend in Scarborough (20th - 22nd September) on the Saturday evening heading back to our digs we stumbled upon this pub, were late on so wasn't sure if we would get a drink or not. Not only did we get our drink, ended up being a very memorable evening including a sing song on karaoke, shots galore. Woman behind bar were legendary, not to mention the customers made Me and my partner more than welcome. Well done to all.
Hmmmmm bit of a locals pub full of proper strange characters but harmless enough with their 1970s jokes which you can't help chuckle to. Decent pint of smiths. Decor could do with updating and bringing into the 19th century electric cables all over the place hope a safety inspection isn't imminent dj boxes blocking fire exit and dog friendly ie sat on seats, definitely a traditional out of town pub to call in and enjoy the entertainment
Had a brilliant few hours in here atmosphere was great lots of characters in loved it. Also silly wife left her handbag in there we came back and it had been put behind the bar safe we will definitely be back next time we’re in Scarborough 👍🏻👍🏻😀😀
Was looking for an Indian takeaway and ended up in here. Glad I did. It was a quiet night but great landlady and clientele. Made me and my brother very welcome!
