About This Pub
Ah, The Banner in Hindley – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its warm, lively feel, where you can pop in for a pint and end up chatting away the evening. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the website, folks absolutely rave about the friendly vibe and the top-notch facilities like live sports on Sky and BT, plus regular live music that gets everyone involved. It's got all the classics: a beer garden for those balmy nights, a function room that's spot-on for birthdays or even weddings, and plenty of games to keep things entertaining. But, to keep it real, there are a few niggles; some have mentioned staff being a bit off with non-regulars, which could put a dampener on your visit, and there've been complaints about unexpected interruptions during events. Overall, it's a solid spot for a casual night out, especially if you're up for mingling with the community crowd, but it might be worth checking the mood before planning something special. I'd say give it a go – at that inexpensive price point, it's a winner for a relaxed pint, just manage your expectations for the odd off day.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The atmosphere is always vibrant and friendly, making it feel like a proper community hub where you can unwind with mates.
-
They've got a cracking selection of beers, including hand-pulled cask ales, and it's all served with a smile most of the time.
-
Live music and regular jam nights add a fun buzz, especially on Tuesdays – perfect for those who fancy a singalong or a bit of entertainment.
-
It's well-equipped for events with a function room, making it ideal for parties or get-togethers, and there's even a beer garden for sunny evenings.
-
Sports fans will love the Sky and BT Sports showing, so you won't miss any big matches, plus there's pool, darts, and a jukebox to keep things lively.
Cons
-
Some staff can come across as a bit unwelcoming to newcomers, seeming more focused on the regulars, which might make first-timers feel a tad out of place.
-
There have been issues with uninvited kids wandering into booked areas, which could disrupt special occasions and spoil the vibe.
-
While it's generally affordable, the overall experience might not always live up to expectations if you're not part of the usual crowd.

Lovely place, very hospitable
Brilliant pub with live music and a regular jam night on Tuesdays
Had a great night last night for a 70th party. Staff friendly and plenty of room considering it was a big do.
Had a venue here a few weeks ago, one staff member behind the bar was nice but the others seemed rude and only was interested in talking to the regulars. If you are a regular then I'm guessing you wouldn't feel like an outsider as we where. Random kids coming in to the room we hired and eating off the buffet we provided are selfs, so can't comment on the banners food. Had to clean the tables as they where sticky, left the place clearner then we came into and had £10 taken off are deposit to go to the cleaner???
We do weddings. funerals . party's A very family friendly pub
