About This Pub
Ah, the Bulls Head, what a gem it is in Broken Cross! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with that genuine warmth from Ian and his team, who go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome – whether you're popping in for a quick pint or planning something bigger like a family gathering or even a wake. They've nailed the drinks menu with their handpicked Cask Ales and classics like Guinness, and at moderate prices, it's easy to settle in for a chat by the fire. On the flip side, it's tucked away a bit, so if you're not from the area, it might take some effort to get to, and while they've impressed with event buffets, it doesn't seem to offer much in the way of regular food options. Overall, though, it's a solid spot for us pub enthusiasts looking for that authentic, heartfelt experience – I'd say give it a go if you're after good company and a proper drink without any fuss.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff and owner, Ian, are absolutely brilliant – they make you feel right at home with their warm welcomes and top-notch service.
-
It's got a lovely community vibe, perfect for a quiet pint by the open fire or hosting special events like celebrations and wakes.
-
The drinks selection is spot on, with a great range of Cask Ales, Guinness, and premium Lagers that really hit the spot.
-
Prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for a casual get-together without breaking the bank.
-
The atmosphere is just what you'd want from a traditional pub – welcoming and cosy, especially in the heart of Broken Cross.
Cons
-
It might be a tad out of the way if you're not local, as it's more of a neighbourhood gem rather than in the town centre.
-
From what I've seen, the food options seem limited to events and buffets, so it might not be the first choice for a full meal out.
-
With only a handful of reviews shared, it could feel like it's still building its reputation, even though the feedback is glowing.

Ian and the team held a celebration gathering for our dad, they were fantastic, it was a great buffet, lovely atmosphere, it was above all of our expectations.
I can't recommend this venue enough, whether you just want a quiet drink or want to hold a gathering, Ian and his team will make it great.
Thank you so much x
Recently hosted us a wake following a funeral, there was nothing the pub couldn't cater for and acknowledged every need. Food was great and very competitively priced. Great atmosphere, lovely pub, couldn't rate it any better!
Cracking little pub...warm welcome...heating on...decent beer and reasonable prices...what's not to like?
Great Locals pub bit for out of town for me
The pub itself has a great atmosphere and is a great place to go with friends and family but for me and my husband I am writing this review for the outstanding landlord Ian and his amazing staff who saved our wedding reception! They had less than a weeks notice to fully stock our venues bar and serve behind it on probably their busiest night at their pub. Everyone commented on how friendly and helpful you all were. Me and Tom can’t thankyou enough for coming to our rescue and providing the same atmosphere and service that you do at the Bulls Head.
