About This Pub
You know, when I popped into the Britannia Inn, it really felt like that reliable local for a no-fuss meal with friends – it's all about those classic British roasts that Toby Carvery does so well, with meats cooked to juicy perfection and all the trimmings that make you feel right at home. The value's spot on too, especially if you're treating the family, and they've got this all-you-can-eat breakfast that's just the ticket for a lazy weekend. Folks seem chuffed overall, with plenty raving about the food and the laid-back atmosphere that's ideal for a catch-up. But, let's be honest, it's not all gravy; I've heard a few grumbles about times when the food wasn't as fresh as it could be, like dishes lingering under the lamps, or having to wait for new servings, which can put a dampener on things. The decor's a bit on the tired side as well, nothing fancy, but it doesn't ruin the vibe entirely. All in all, it's a decent shout for pub goers looking for good, honest fare, though you'd want to pick your visit wisely to avoid any off days – still, I'd say it's worth a try for that signature roast experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The carvery is absolutely spot on – succulent meats, perfectly crisp Yorkshires, and those hand-ruffled spuds make for a proper British roast that's hard to beat.
-
It's brilliant value for money, especially for families, with generous portions and all-you-can-eat options that won't break the bank.
-
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a casual get-together with mates or a family meal, and they've got kid-friendly menus to keep everyone happy.
-
Their all-you-can-eat breakfast is a cracking way to start the day, packed with British classics like sausages, bacon, and eggs – it's hearty and satisfying.
Cons
-
Food quality can be inconsistent at times, like eggs sitting under heat lamps a bit too long, which takes the edge off an otherwise good meal.
-
Service might let you down occasionally, such as waiting ages for fresh meat on the carvery, which can spoil the experience if you're in a rush.
-
The decor feels a tad dated and not particularly inspiring, making the place seem a bit worn around the edges.
-
It can get a bit noisy, especially with lively kids around, so if you're after a quiet pint, it might not always hit the mark.

Enjoyed a family outing in the Toby. The Carvery was excellent as usual and superb value for money.
Never again !!!! Booked for 3pm , Told no new meat until 4pm !!! Half a turkey on the hot plate . So either have another drink or walk out ....Used to be lovely but gone down Big time ! won't go back !
Well priced for an unlimited breakfast. Quality only so-so as is the decor. Buffet style but eggs were lying to long under heat lamps and no fresh eggs issued.
My favourite place to go. Lovely food and staff
Toby carvery what's not to like.
Good quality food & the Turkey,Ham,Beef & Pork is always superbly cooked. Highly recommended.
Been a few times just for a coffee with a friend & sat in the

area. Photos attached.
Nice relaxing place unless you get rowdy kids in,then it can be a lot of fun listening to adults negotiating with them. 😂
