About This Pub

Ah, the Britannia Inn in Macclesfield is one of those classic pubs that really captures that homely, community feel – you know, the kind where you can just pop in for a pint and end up chatting away the evening. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the staff are an absolute delight, always helpful and full of smiles, which makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable. The beers are spot on too, with options like Wainwright going down a treat, and it's all at prices that won't break the bank. Plus, if you're out with your dog, they're more than welcome, and the beer garden adds a lovely touch for when you fancy a bit of fresh air. On the downside, it can get a tad squished near the bar, so if you're after plenty of elbow room, you might find it a squeeze. And let's be honest, the beer selection isn't always vast – sometimes it's just the one draught on tap, which could leave you wanting more variety. Oh, and if you're not in the mood for the footy crowd, it might not be your ideal spot. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back night out, as long as you go in with the right expectations – it's got that authentic pub charm, but it's not without its little quirks.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
  • They've got a solid selection of beers, like a decent pint of Wainwright, and the prices are quite reasonable
  • It's a proper traditional pub with a quaint vibe and an attractively unusual beer garden that's perfect for a relaxing sit-down
  • Dogs are welcome, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your furry friend
Cons
  • The space near the bar can feel a bit cramped and tight, especially if it's busy
  • Sometimes there's only one draught beer on offer, which might limit your choices
  • It might not be the best spot if the football's on, as it can get a bit rowdy or less enjoyable then

Dogs welcome but tight for floor space near the small bar. Nice trad pub. Good to buy a decent pint of Wainwright served by Jenna 🤩 🍺🍻

Really friendly place, friendly and helpful staff, real family like trouble free atmosphere. Good selection of beer, decent prices. For a quiet trouble free pint I highly recommend this pub!.

Only one draught beer available, & if the footy is on its not a nice place. Any other time it's great though, & the staff are very friendly & helpful. Get more real ale on, & it'd be a great pub.

Such a cute pub! The owner was an absolute sweetheart of a man, and the barman Seb was right on top of it with all of the patrons' needs
