About This Pub

Ah, Brig O'Don – it's one of those pubs in Aberdeen that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From the moment you step in, the vibe is warm and inviting, with staff who are genuinely attentive and make you feel right at home. I love how they've got that chargrilled cuisine down pat, and the beer garden is a brilliant spot for a sunny afternoon pint or a family get-together – plus, it's great that they welcome dogs along. They've also got some cracking offers, like discounts for students, which is a nice touch if you're watching the pennies. On the downside, though, some of the food can be a bit hit-or-miss; it's tasty enough, but not everything blows you away, and you might find yourself paying a bit more than you'd expect for what you get. That confusion over whether to order at the table or the bar can be a minor headache too, and if you're hoping for something special on a birthday, well, it might not happen. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, especially if you're after good company and a decent meal, but it's not without its little flaws – still, I'd say it's worth a visit for the positives alone.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and always check in to make sure you're having a good time, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
  • It's kept spotlessly clean, making it a refreshing spot to relax without any worries.
  • The food is generally delicious, especially their chargrilled dishes, and it's great value with some tasty offers like student discounts.
  • It's pet-friendly and family-oriented, with a lovely beer garden that's perfect for enjoying a drink outdoors.
  • The atmosphere is vibrant and relaxed, ideal for a casual catch-up or a meal with mates.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be a bit average depending on what you pick, so it's worth choosing carefully to avoid disappointment.
  • Prices feel a tad on the high side for the quality, which might not suit everyone on a tight budget.
  • There's a bit of confusion with the service – sometimes it's table service, other times you need to head to the bar, which can throw you off.
  • They don't go out of their way for special occasions, like birthdays, so it might not feel extra memorable if you're celebrating.

Lovely pud/restaurant. Has a nice atmosphere inside, which we really enjoyed. It is relatively clean and doesn’t have much wear and tear which is rare to see. The food is good but at the same time average depending on what you order. The members of staff are friendly and do check on their customers. The interior is to my taste for such place, the style is maintained throughout which is nice to see. Some sitting areas have windows near them which is nice but there are also darker area to sit at like the bar and the middle, additionally there is an outside area with heating lamps. The squid wasn’t bad, the sauce that it came with was lovely but it wasn’t fully cleaned off as it still had that rubbery line which can be removed which made it chewy. They sell a wide range of non alcoholic drinks and drinks that are alcohol in a way but 0%. The salmon with potatoes wasn’t bad and the sauce that came with it was lovely. However the salmon was so crispy/cooked at the top that it was hard to chew through. The prices are reasonable. The dessert was nice but for me a bit too sweet.

First time visiting Brig O'Don, very nice restaurant, delicious food and great customer service. Pet friendly too. Second time visiting, great customer service and delicious food. I did mention we were celebrating a birthday, don't think they do anything especial about it. We had a good time though.

The place was empty at 8 pm so didn’t really catch the vibe of what it’s like when folks are there but the staff was top notch. But Food was pricey for how enjoyable it was. I don’t mind paying more for food but it has to pass the taste muster. The mushy peas were good tho. Immaculate clean. This pub more than anywhere in Aberdeen reminded me of suburban American restaurants.

Great menu, though service can be a bit confusing. We loved the diversity of the menu and each loved what we chose to eat - and it was such a relaxed environment that we stayed for coffee and dessert! The only slight confusion is between table service vs going up to the bar to order. The latter definitely worked, but they 'd have to update their attentiveness if taking table service seriously.
