About This Pub

Ah, BrewDog Oxford, what a gem it is down on Cowley Road – I've got to say, it's one of those pubs that really knows how to make you feel at home whilst diving into the world of craft beer. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely rave about the beer selection; it's like a treasure trove of options, from bold IPAs to smooth stouts, and they've got their own brews mixed in, which adds a nice personal touch. The staff stand out too – they're not just pouring pints, they're sharing stories and tips that make the experience so much more enjoyable, especially if you're up for a tasting session or pairing it with some cheese, as one chap mentioned. On the food front, the burgers and wings are spot on, and it's brilliant that they've got brunch going until 4pm on weekends for a lazy start to the day. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; it's a bit of a walk from the main hustle of Oxford, so if you're not up for that, it might not be your first choice. Plus, with moderate prices, you could end up spending more than expected on a few rounds and a meal, and it does get lively, which is great for energy but not if you're after a peaceful pint. Overall, though, it's a solid pick for anyone wanting a fun, beer-focused night out – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the little niggles.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The craft beer selection is absolutely brilliant, with a huge variety of IPAs, stouts, and more from top breweries – perfect for anyone wanting to explore new flavours.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable; they're Cicerone-trained, so you can count on some great recommendations and even learn a thing or two about beer.
  • The food menu is a real winner, with smashing burgers, wings, and even brunch options that hit the spot, especially on weekends.
  • It's open seven days a week with decent hours, making it easy to pop in for a pint after work or a relaxed meal.
  • The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, ideal for a casual catch-up with mates or trying out their beer tastings and events.
Cons
  • It's a short walk from the city centre, which might feel a bit out of the way if you're not keen on the trek, though it's worth it once you're there.
  • Prices are on the moderate side, so it could get pricey if you're planning a big night out – not the cheapest spot for a quick drink.
  • The place can get quite bustling, especially on busy evenings, which might make it a tad overwhelming if you're after somewhere quiet.

After a week of early starts at work I decided to be crazy after finishing work on day 7 by visiting three Brewdog bars along with my wife. Starting at 11 am we took a 2 hours 45 minutes train ride with two changes to get to bar number one, then another 50 minutes on the train to bar number two. Again onto another train for 1 hour 20 minutes to Oxford. On arrival at the bar we was warming welcomed by the bar staff. We had a couple of tasters of the brews that were on offer, my wife had had the Vault City Orange Creamsicle a 4.8% modern sour beer and I had a pint ot Brewdog Clockwork Tangerine IPA at 4.5%. We sat in a booth and looked over the food menu not that we truly needed too as we have eaten from the BrewDog menu so many times. The bar manager came over and asked if we wanted to order food. My wife went for the Plant Powered Patriot served in a beetroot brioche not that my wife is a vegetarian but these plant based patties are the best she has ever tasted. These plant based patties are not dry like some well known branded vegan burgers. The plant powered patriot patty is just as juicy as the meat based patty. I had the Jackpot a meat patty served with black pudding, chorizo sausage with a blue cheese sauce. Both our Patties hit the spot and were cooked to perfection. A visit to Brewdog Oxford is highly recommended.

Marcello was an excellent and attentive host. The burgers and beers were excellent. A little out of the city centre, but well worth a visit.

This pub always boasts an impressive selection of fine stouts. During this visit I tried the Deep punk at 7.0% it was a dark and delicious full bodied experience. I also tried the "World famous wings" with a side salad Plain fries. Everything was cooked and served beautifully and my personal quirks noted. Very good and ample portions too. Unfortunately the place was freezing cold and I did have to move away from the extremely drafty window. Always friendly service from a happy and enthusiastic team
