About This Pub
Ah, the Boat & Railway – it's one of those pubs that really captures that classic British charm, tucked away by the canal with a cracking beer garden that's just made for lazy afternoons. I love how it's so welcoming for everyone, whether you're popping in with the kids, your furry mate, or just a group of pals for some live sports or a cheeky band night. The menu's got some solid pub grub that hits the spot for a hearty meal, and the staff often go out of their way to make you feel at home. But, on the flip side, I've heard from a few folks that the food doesn't always live up to the hype – things like cold plates or a menu that's not quite as extensive as it looks online can put a dampener on things. Service might drag a bit too, especially if you're hoping for a quick turnaround, and if you're after more veggie options, you might find yourself a tad short-changed. Still, for a relaxed pint and some good company, it's worth a visit – just keep those little niggles in mind and you'll likely have a top time.

Cons
-
Food can sometimes fall short, with reports of dishes arriving cold or not quite as tasty as expected.
-
There's a mismatch between the online menu and what's actually available, which might leave you disappointed.
-
Service can be a bit slow, even when it's not too busy, so it might not be ideal if you're in a rush.

Options for vegetarians and vegans are a bit limited, so it's not the best choice if that's your preference.
-
Parking is pretty scarce, which could be a hassle if you're driving over.

Great pub, lovely warm atmosphere, great bar staff, the guy who served us was super. Great to know there's bands on. We wish you the very best and good luck you deserve to do well.
We had a day of teaching children & adults from all different cultures on behalf of the Birmingham Anglers Association and Canal & River Trust for the Lets Fish Campaign. As this fantastic establishment was right next door to the canal we decided to end the day with a lovely cold pint! Brilliant Pub, brillaint atmosphere 👌
Went here for a Sunday dinner which is advertised on the website and they don’t offer them. The food that was lacklustre annd came out cold and the service wasn’t great. The bar and drinks were fine so I would recommend just going for a drink. I’d also recommend the staff have some sort of uniform.
Chose this charming pub after viewing their extensive online food menu. The menu actually on offer was a fraction of the online offering. I think we were the only diners last night, still took 40 minutes to deliver the 4 meals. Two of the burgers were without their coleslaw, apparently they had run out, and no alternative was offered. Based on our experience, nice pub for a pint but forget the food.
Lovely canal side pub. Very clean and tidy. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Dogs allowed. Children allowed. Plenty of space.
There is very little parking. They do serve food. Which is amazing, good quality at a fair price. But there is not too much choice, especially for vegetarian or vegan.
The Guinness was exceptional! I would definitely come back here.
