About This Pub
Ah, the Orange Tree – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway in Braintree, you know? From the moment you step in, you're greeted with that warm, rustic charm and a team that's genuinely chuffed to see you, always ready with a smile and quick service. The food's a real highlight; I mean, who can resist a massive burger deal that's not only tasty but won't break the bank? It's brilliant for kicking back with friends over a match on the big screen or enjoying a game of darts in the beer garden on a sunny day. They've thought of everything too, with it being dog-friendly and accessible, so it's easy to pop in with the family or furry companion. On the flip side, it does tend to buzz with energy during events, which is great if you're up for it, but might feel a tad overwhelming if you're after a peaceful pint. And while the daily deals are tempting, I reckon they could mix up the menu a bit more to keep things exciting for those who visit often. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out – I'd say give it a go and see why it's become such a favourite around here.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, attentive, and full of good energy, making every visit feel like catching up with mates.
-
The food is spot on; think hearty burgers and meals that are generous on portions and easy on the wallet, perfect for a casual bite.
-
It's got a lovely rustic vibe with a real community spirit, ideal for watching the footie, playing a game of darts or pool, and soaking in that classic pub atmosphere.
-
Loads of great facilities like being dog-friendly, family-oriented, and accessible, plus a beer garden and sports on the telly to keep everyone happy.
Cons
-
It might get a bit crowded during big events or match days, which could make it tricky to find a seat or have a quiet chat.
-
Opening hours kick off around midday, so if you're after an early morning pint, you might have to wait or head elsewhere.
-
From what I've seen, the deals and menus are exciting, but they could do with a bit more variety to keep things fresh for regular visitors.

I visited this place during my trip to the UK. It was very nice both outside and inside. It is a nice place where you can watch a match with your friends, play billiards and darts, chat, eat good food and drink drinks. The staff is very attentive and has a good energy. Thank you all.
We hired out the area for parties and it was perfect. The staff were amazing and Shanice was so helpful with all the preparations before the event. Thank you so much!
Went up there with a freind for a catch up, we decided to have food and OMG. We had the burger meal and it came with so much and every bit of it was lovely, I had to bring the chicken burger home for my son and left half of the chips and all that we had was £5. Friendly and very welcoming staff lovely place. And forgot to say the most important bit the Pinot Grigio Blush was excellent
We had an exceptional Christmas Day dinner at The Orange Tree in Braintree. Our group of nine arrived early, and we were pleased to find our table already set and ready for us. The staff was incredibly accommodating; our waitress offered to bring out our starters early, but since we were waiting for the rest of our party, we decided to wait.
Once everyone arrived, the food was brought out promptly. Each dish was delicious, and the service was truly second to none. What made the experience even more enjoyable was the relaxed atmosphere. Despite being busy, the team did an excellent job, and we never felt rushed off the table for another sitting.
Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and we are already looking forward to having Christmas dinner there again this year. Highly recommended!
Excellent place, went here for an 18th birthday celebration and I couldn't rate it highly enough.
It was a really unique looking place with loads of paintings on the wall, It felt like you were back in time at an old English pub for the rich. Really nice atmosphere, good food and the cocktails were delicious. Highly recommended A++++
