About This Pub

Ah, Barretts Freehouse – it's one of those neighbourhood spots in Harrow that I've heard good things about from folks who've popped in. Picture this: it's open every day from midday straight through to 11 PM, making it a reliable choice if you're after a casual drink without much fuss. The staff are genuinely warm and chatty, which really lifts the place up, and it's clear the locals love it, especially when the horse racing's on – that adds a fun, lively touch to the scene. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; some mates have mentioned the prices are a bit eye-watering, like nearly £15 for a pint and a double, which could make you think twice about sticking around for another round. On top of that, it might not have the most vibrant atmosphere during off-peak hours, and if you're a fan of real ales, you might find the options a tad lacking, as it's just not on the menu. Still, with that overall 4.2 rating, it's got more going for it than not, so if you're in the area and fancy a low-key evening, it's worth giving it a go – just keep your expectations in check and maybe plan for a shorter visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are really friendly and make you feel right at home, which is always a treat when you're out for a pint.
  • It's a popular spot with the locals, especially for catching the horse racing – gives it a nice community vibe.
  • With a solid 4.2 rating, it's generally well-regarded and seems to deliver a decent experience overall.
Cons
  • Prices can be quite steep; for instance, a pint and a double mixer coming in at just under £15 might put a dent in your night out.
  • The atmosphere can feel a bit flat during quieter times, like weekday afternoons, so it might not always buzz with energy.
  • It's a freehouse, but they don't have any real ale on tap, which could disappoint if that's what you're after.
  • There's a strict policy on using the facilities, even for a quick stop, which might not sit well if you're just passing by.

I feel sure that I have not got this space at it's best. Only experience of this bar is during the week in the afternoon. Needs some atmosphere.

Hi, I’m a Uber taxi driver been there to pick up the passenger from this pub and I ask them to use their toilet for pee and they refused me to use it. They said this is only for customer. I know it’s personal matter but …… thank you guys

Nice friendly bar but the prices put us off so we didn't stay long. A pint and double mixer was just under £15 a bit much for wealdstone

A free house, was expecting at least one real ale. Still seems popular with locals watching horse racing.
