About This Pub

Ah, Bainsy's Bar – it's one of those places that really comes alive on match days, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this infectious energy that makes you feel like you're part of something special, with the staff being absolute gems who go out of their way to make everyone welcome. The selection of beers and snacks is pretty solid too, and those occasional Indian starters sound like a fun twist that could make your visit even better. It's spot on for a pre-game meet-up, what with its handy location and the sports blaring on the TVs. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – the beer can sometimes let the side down, tasting off on certain days, and when it gets packed to the rafters, things can slow right down with the service. Still, if you're up for a bit of a lively pub crawl in Birmingham, I'd say it's worth popping in; just manage your expectations for the busier times, and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Service is top-notch with really friendly staff who make you feel right at home.
  • They've got a great selection of beers and some tasty bar snacks, with the occasional Indian starters adding a nice surprise.
  • It's conveniently located near the grounds, making it a perfect spot for football fans to gather.
  • Security is on site, and they've got sports on the TVs, which really enhances the whole experience.
Cons
  • The beer can be a bit hit and miss – sometimes it doesn't taste quite right, which is a shame.
  • It gets incredibly busy, particularly on match days, and that can make things feel a tad overwhelming.
  • The extra staff sometimes struggle during peak times, leading to slower service when you need it most.

I only go here on match days, but the atmosphere is always great. The service is always excellent, the staff are great. The beer sometimes tastes bad, and it's hit and miss.

Great place for Bluenose fans, have had travelling fans on occasion in here, has security on site, beer and food good, regular staff really good, the odd supplementary staff struggle at busy times, has sports on the telly's, been here loads, great meeting place and ground's 10 mins away, what's not to like!! Historic old pub, undress the modern touches and The Garrison's opposite (mind it's now a shop!)
