About This Pub

So, if you're looking for a proper local spot in Dukinfield, Astley Arms really hits the mark. It's this quaint little pub tucked away near the canal, and from what I've heard from folks who've been, it's got that warm, welcoming feel that makes you want to settle in for the evening. The beers are spot on with a good variety at prices that won't break the bank, and there's always something going on, like karaoke nights that can turn into a right laugh with some brilliant singers. It's fantastic for casual meet-ups or even parties, with clean facilities and a nice selection of drinks including cocktails. On the flip side, it does get packed on busier evenings, so you might have to jostle for space, and if the weather's rubbish, that lovely beer garden goes to waste. Plus, while they take cards, it's probably best to use cash to avoid any extra charges they might face. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a chat – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as long as you keep an eye on the opening times.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's a charming, quaint little pub with a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed pint near the canal.
  • They've got a great selection of beers at reasonable prices, which makes it easy on the wallet.
  • The beer garden and smokers' area are brilliant spots when the weather's on your side, adding to the outdoor vibe.
  • Karaoke nights are a hit, with some really talented singers making for a fun evening out.
  • Clean toilets and a good range of drinks including cocktails make it a solid choice for get-togethers or parties.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy on certain nights, like during events or parties, which might make it feel a bit crowded.
  • The outdoor areas, such as the beer garden, aren't much use if it's raining, so weather can put a damper on things.
  • They accept card payments, but apparently get charged for it, so paying with cash might be kinder to them and you.
  • Opening times vary a tad, especially on Sundays, so it's worth double-checking if you're planning a visit.

Lovely quaint little pub just up the hill from bridge 1 on the Peak Forest canal. Well worth a visit when mooring in the area. Good selection of beers all reasonably priced.

Attended a 60th party on a Saturday night. It was very busy and everyone had a good time. The toilets are clean and the drinks were good. They do cocktails and there was karaoke on a Saturday night. They accept card payments but they get stung for card charges, so pay cash if you can. Would have given 5 stars overall if they'd have used the air conditioning sooner as it got uncomfortably hot and they could have done something about it.
