About This Pub
Ah, Ashton Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a reliable old mate, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this fantastic range of real ales and beers that really hit the spot, especially if you're into your craft brews or a good pint of stout. The food's straightforward but tasty, and at such good value, it's easy to see why folks keep coming back for more. The staff are dead welcoming, and that pub dog sounds like an absolute gem, adding a bit of extra cheer to the place. On the flip side, though, a couple of people mentioned it getting a tad cold inside, which could be a nuisance on those frosty evenings, and the decor's a bit on the dated side – think characterful rather than flashy. Overall, with a solid 4.4 rating, it's clear this spot does a lot right for beer lovers and those after a relaxed vibe, but it's worth popping in prepared for the odd chill. If you're in Oldham and fancy a pint without any pretence, I'd say give it a go – it's got that genuine pub charm that's hard to beat.

It's an old-style pub with a good, simple menu that hits the mark, perfect for a straightforward, enjoyable night out.
Cons
-
It can get a bit chilly inside on colder days, which might put a dampener on things if you're not wrapped up warm.
-
The interior has a dowdy feel to it, which works for some but might not appeal if you're after something more modern or polished.

Nice pub friendly service first time in for many years but Im sure I'll go again soon.
First ever visit in February 2024 when it's 7° outside; hearing regulars complain it's cold inside the pub isn't a great start. I know times are hard but if you want repeat visits then you need to ensure the pub is warm and welcoming. The Saltaire stout was OK but I'm unlikely to return. Be warned also, it's cash only!
Good old style pub, small menu but the food is good.
A Hugh selection of beers from around Europe.
The staff are friendly older clients but nothing wrong with that.
Overall a good pub on the same Street where TJ Hughes was.
Visiting Oldham with Madge so visited this CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub with five real ales. The inside is a little dowdy but characterful. Excellent pint of Goose Eye brewery 4.5% Golden Goose. Food and drink is excellent value. £6 for the curry. A few Altrincham football fans in for their game at Oldham. I have been an away fan at Boundary park a few times. An open end, winter winds bringing sleet off the Pennines. It's like an Attenborough documentary of Penguins in the Antarctic!
