About This Pub

Ah, 31 The Quay in North Shields – what a delightful spot it is! Picture this: you're tucked away by the riverside with stunning views all around, and the open kitchen lets you watch as they whip up some truly delicious dishes that leave you wanting more. The service is just right – friendly folk who know when to chat and when to give you space, making the whole experience feel welcoming and unhurried. It's especially lovely for catching up with mates or marking a special do, as they've got a knack for handling groups smoothly and offering those special menus that pack in great quality without breaking the bank too much. On the downside, it's a touch more expensive than your average local haunt, so it might not be ideal for a quick bite on a budget. Plus, with some days having earlier closes or being shut altogether, it's worth checking the times first to make sure you're not caught out. All in all, if you're after a proper treat with top grub and a charming atmosphere, this place is well worth a visit – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself!

Beautiful Sunday lunch in a stunning setting with an open kitchen and attentive but never intrusive service. The price point is above most other places locally for a Sunday menu but for very good reason. Accommodated our party of 9 very well, all having 2 courses which were a mix of starters and deserts and everything was exceptional. Second visit and now firmly our go-to special event restaurant. The Rolled pork belly dinner was the best thing I’ve eaten this year, well done all!

I finally visited 31 the Quay, and it was such a treat! We went on Friday evening and were pleasantly surprised by their November special menu—four courses for just £30! Every dish was fantastic, and I highly recommend the Pithivier for main course! One of our guests has a dairy intolerance, and the kitchen was very helpful in advising which dishes could be modified. The staff were lovely —friendly without being intrusive, and they checked in at just the right times to see if we needed more drinks. The atmosphere was cosy, with bright, clean decor, and it wasn't noisy at all, making it easy to enjoy the conversations within the party. I would highly recommend especially if you are celebrating a special occasion.

This place is a gem! We have gone a few times and are very happy with the food and service every time! The price is also good for the quality and type of menu! The location is great with a lovely view. Perfect for a special occasion or just a genuinely lovely meal out!

Very nice restaurant based in North Shields, tastefully decorated with unusual pieces of furniture expected to see in a home rather than a restaurant which adds to the vibe of this restaurant. Tried the August set menu which was value for money at £30 per head for 3 courses this month. Every course was delicious and well worth a visit if in the area.

Stunning location. From start to finish everything was perfect. The food was incredible all made to order in front of your eyes in the open kitchen. The staff were excellent too. Next time we visit Whitley Bay we'll be heading straight here.
