About This Pub

You know, when you pop into Woodham Golf & Country Club, it's one of those places that really grows on you – the course is a proper gem, often hailed as one of the best in the North East, with its tricky layout designed by a legend in the game, keeping things challenging yet fair for everyone. Pair that with the bar and restaurant, where you'll find solid grub and a welcoming team who's always up for a chat, and you've got yourself a lovely spot to unwind after a game. It's spotlessly clean with great accessibility, which makes it ideal for a mixed group. On the downside, there have been a few grumbles about things like buggy arrangements throwing a spanner in the works or the place feeling a tad empty at times, which might not suit if you're craving a more energetic crowd. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed outing, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep those little hitches in mind for a smoother experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The golf course is absolutely top-notch, with challenging holes, beautiful tree-lined fairways, and plenty of water hazards that keep things exciting for any level of player.
  • The bar and restaurant are a real highlight, serving up tasty food like homemade lasagne with generous portions, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home.
  • The facilities are modern and well-maintained, including a great golf shop with quality products, immaculate practice areas, and a clubhouse that's clean, welcoming, and even wheelchair friendly.
  • It's got a warm, community-focused vibe that's perfect for a relaxed day out, with events like Burns Night and special offers that add a nice touch for visitors.
Cons
  • There can be occasional issues with course management, like problems with buggy bookings or play pacing, which might disrupt the flow of your visit.
  • The place sometimes feels a bit quiet, especially in the bar area, which could make it less lively if you're after a buzzing atmosphere.
  • A few folks have mentioned that while the food is good, it's just 'okay' at times, so it might not always hit the mark for something truly outstanding.

Everything about this place is superb. The golf shop is modern and has some great products in, the clubhouse is elite and multipurpose and the course was exceptional. Course also wasn't crammed and the booking system means you can breathe while playing without being up someone's backside nor being pushed along by someone inpatient, will 100% be back.

What a fabulous course ! 👏 Great bar / restaurant accompanied with immaculate practice faculties. Proper golf shop also which all golf courses should have. Ernie served us who was great crack and really helpful when I enquired about getting a new grip for my putter. Really enjoyed today and I will be coming back ! 🏌️‍♂️

This is a lovely place, we've hired it for party's and ate on many occasions. The service and staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the girl serving behind the bar. We were vertualy the only people in the plaza, which is a shame. Drinks were good and the food was okay, good size portions but nothing special. It's quiet when there's no golfers about.

This course gets 2 stars for having a great layout. Otherwise, it would be 1 went today as a group of 6 unfortunately 2 couldn't make it last minute we had ordered 4 buggies for the 2 original 4 balls but had to go out as 2 3 balls not sure why maybe to speed up play? Even though it was painfully slow anyway in front. After 3 of us teed off the guy from the pro shop walked out and asked if we could just wait and let this 2 ball nip out quickly why didn't they book an earlier tee time if they knew there was 4 balls going out? But the worst thing was the course and the price we were charged! I had played here years ago, and it hasn't gotten any better. Greens are still very slow compared to any other courses in the area and lots of damaged rough patches on some greens, there is terrible maintenance all over the course left over dead grass everywhere from the rough we had numerous balls lost just off the greens and fairways shocking and a lots of uneven poor tee boxes! We played a championship golf course 2 days ago for £24 through the golf now app which makes this look like a farmers field with flags on it and this cost us £45 each for golf and shared buggy so i presume £30-£35 for golf and rest for buggy ridiculous! It should be no more than £15 Won't be back much better value elsewhere!
