About This Pub
Ah, Widcombe Social Club – what a gem it is for those times you fancy a proper social evening in Bath. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely rave about the place; the staff are proper legends, always helpful and creating that warm, inclusive feel that makes you want to stick around. The live music on Friday nights, paired with tasty pizza, sounds like a brilliant way to unwind, and it's not just about the drinks – they've got a whole lineup of classes and events that keep things fresh and engaging. It's affordable too, which is a win in a pricey spot like Bath, and being a non-profit community venue, it's clear they're all about supporting local causes, which gives it that extra heart. On the flip side, though, it's a bit of a letdown that it's only open on Sundays; I mean, who doesn't love the idea of popping in after work on a Tuesday? And let's not forget the location – perched on a steep hill with parking woes, it might not be the easiest for everyone to get to, especially if you're not up for a climb. Overall, if you're planning a special event or just want a lively Sunday session, it's worth the effort, but it could do with more regular hours to truly shine as a everyday hangout spot.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and always go above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
-
It's got a fantastic atmosphere with live music, pizza nights, and a variety of events like yoga or dance classes – perfect for a fun night out or catching up with mates.
-
Drinks are well-priced, especially for Bath, and they've got a great selection that won't break the bank.
-
The venue is brilliant for private events, like parties or even film screenings, with accessible features such as lifts and disabled toilets making it inclusive for everyone.
-
As a community-focused spot, it's heart-warming to see them support local charities and host all sorts of gatherings that bring people together.
Cons
-
It's only open on Sundays, which is a real shame as it limits your options for a spontaneous mid-week pint or catch-up.
-
The location on a steep hill means it's a bit of a trek, and parking can be tricky with no on-site spots – you might end up walking from further up the road.
-
With such limited hours, it might not feel like your go-to local if you're after something more regular or flexible.

Love this place! We went to Indie Disco. Upstairs venue, 10 minute walk from city centre.
Great place for a party , caters for plenty and well organised and easy to get to.
And drinks were well priced considering it is in Bath.

Summary.... 5⭐
Great space for private events.
Nice modern build. Used downstairs room which has a bar, disabled access, no parking structure in area of residential only parking.
Free on street parking further up the hill, its a steep hill too.
Such a fantastic venue. I have held film screenings here to audiences of up to 100 and have hosted a 30th birthday party too. Would highly recommend. The staff are friendly and really helpful and have always gone above and beyond to make sure my requirements have been met. Will definitely be hiring the space again in the future!
