About This Pub
Ah, the White Bear – it's one of those places that just draws you in with its welcoming charm, isn't it? From the moment you spot that massive white bear outside, you know you're in for something special. I've heard from folks who've been there that the atmosphere is spot on, with quirky decorations everywhere you look, making it feel like a proper hideaway in the middle of Bristol. The staff are dead lovely, always ready with a smile and quick service, and the food's a winner too – juicy burgers and crispy chips that hit the spot without costing a fortune. Plus, there's always something going on, whether it's a pub quiz to test your trivia skills, watching the footie on those huge screens, or catching a comedy night for a laugh. It's brilliant for meeting up with mates or even making new ones at society events. On the flip side, though, it does get a tad overcrowded on busier evenings, especially with the student crowd, so you might end up queuing for a drink or struggling to hear over the chatter. And with doors opening in the afternoon, it's not ideal if you're after a early start to your day. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint in the garden or a lively night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but maybe avoid peak times if you prefer a quieter vibe.

-
A sunny garden area that's ideal for a relaxed pint, especially on nicer days, and it's in a handy spot in the heart of Bristol.
Cons
-
It can get a bit packed on student nights, which might make it tricky to find a seat or have a proper chat.
-
Opening from the afternoon onwards means it's not the place for a early morning brew, so you might have to plan your day around it.

Great vibes, good decorations and super reasonably priced. Sometimes gets pretty busy on student nights but overall really good
A classic British pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is efficient.
The burgers and chips are a solid choice.
The burgers are juicy and flavorful, and the chips are crispy and well-seasoned.
The roast beef is also worth trying, especially on a Sunday.
It’s tender and cooked to perfection.
While the food is good, the pub could benefit from a slightly more diverse menu.
Overall, the White Bear is a great place to enjoy a pint and a good meal.
Great prices, nice staff, cool place. Something interesting everywhere you look and not too busy on a Saturday afternoon. Awesome spot to grab a drink!
Lovely small student pub, with an extra room upstairs for events. I went there a few times to meet up with friends and to go to society socials, meeting new people. It was a great place for this with lots of tables, a nice selection of beers and ciders and lovely staff!
So... Pop up food in a sports bar!
The chef here certainly knows how to season his food, whether it's the battered Sea Bass Goujons in a Burger with unique 31 fish sauce or the macaroni cheese filled croquets... The Hand made burger patties are without a doubt some of the best I've ever had...
The menu is simple and varied, absolutely unique and all prepared / cooked fresh by the one man (tate@ 31 food blog) , I can see big things for this guy.
I'm always put off by cheap (ish) priced food but I've been proved that going on price alone isn't recommended at all, everything I've ordered over the past few days has been outstanding.
Craig the landlord of the bar is one welcoming bloke and has made me feel right at home whilst working away in Bristol, I wish I could take this bar a home with me. Jonathan one of the most friendliest and attentive bar men I've encountered over the years just tops this place off.
Also drinks are at a very reasonable price, everything here is on top form, always a good atmosphere and never a spot of trouble, properly love it!
