About This Pub
Ah, The Open Arms – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its quirky charm and that perfect mix of old-school tradition and a modern welcoming edge. From what I've gathered, it's all about that cosy atmosphere where you can kick back with friends, catch the big sports matches on Sky or BT, or dive into a lively quiz night for a bit of midweek fun. The drinks are spot on, with a great range of beers and ciders that hit the mark, and the food really shines, especially their Sunday roast – folks rave about the massive Yorkshires and hearty portions, though it's worth noting that the beef isn't always as tender as you'd hope, based on a couple of honest comments. Still, it's a solid spot for a proper pub experience, and that tucked-away beer garden is an absolute treat on a sunny afternoon. All in all, if you're in Bristol and fancy a place that's equal parts relaxed and buzzing, give it a go – just pop in when they're serving food if that's your plan.
Pros and Cons

-
They've got a cracking selection of real ales, ciders, and spirits, plus some solid non-alcoholic options for those driving or taking it easy.
-
The Sunday roast is a real highlight – think generous portions, unbeatable gravy, and Yorkshire puddings big enough to make you smile.
-
Friendly staff and lively events like quiz nights add a fun vibe, ideal for celebrating birthdays or just enjoying a good laugh.
-
The hidden beer garden is a brilliant sun trap, feeling like a secret escape on a warm day.
Cons
-
Some dishes, like the beef in the Sunday roast, can be a bit dry and overcooked at times, which is a shame given the hype.

Went to the Monday Quiz Night what a great laugh brilliant staff and atmosphere I am definitely going again. I definitely going to try their Sunday Roast lunch .....Brilliant local pub!
Great little under rated pub in Bristol. Really friendly and cosy.
They’ve got a nice selection of real ales and the Sunday Lunch is such good value for money, the Yorkshire puddings are large and you get lots of meat.
The “secret” beer garden is tucked away and a proper sun trap, - chill atmosphere.
can’t recommend this underrated pub more
Delicious roast today! Gravy was unrivalled and I didn’t even have to ask for more. Lydia and team are an asset to the Bristol food scene!
Feeling positively Mediterranean in the garden on a warm September evening, with ripe grapes dripping from the vines.
Lovely draught bitter, and some excellent tasty goodies; jalapeño bites, chilli cheese chips and a margarita pizza.
Lovely place, will visit again
Was really excited to get a roast here with the reviews but the beef was literally the driest, blandest, hardest, most overcooked clunk of meat ever. Quite disappointed but my friend said her pork belly was really good. Everything else was nice, with large portions. Just the beef was a real let down and I was excited for it.
