About This Pub

Ah, the Wellington Inn in Wolviston – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its friendly vibe and traditional feel. From what folks are saying, the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, and when the food hits the mark, it's brilliant – think delicious fish and chips or a lovely venison pie that could brighten up any meal. The decor is a nice surprise, all cosy and inviting, with outdoor spots perfect for a sunny day and a good pint in hand. On the other hand, it's not all smooth sailing; some dishes can be a tad dry or not quite right, especially during busier times like special occasions, which might leave you a bit underwhelmed. Still, with a solid overall rating, it's worth popping in if you're nearby – just keep an eye on what's cooking and you'll likely have a grand time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers and a menu with some real winners, like the superb fish and chips and tasty venison pie.
  • The atmosphere is spot on – lovely decor that's deceptive from the outside, with a cosy vibe and even some festive touches.
  • Plenty of outdoor options, including wooden huts and a beer garden, plus a large car park for easy access.
Cons
  • Food quality can be hit or miss; some dishes like the parmos come out dry or overcooked, which is a bit disappointing.
  • Special events, such as Mother's Day meals, sometimes fall short of expectations, leaving you feeling let down after a promising start.
  • A few reviews mention inconsistencies, like steaks that are overdone, so it might not always live up to the hype.

This was a pre booked mothers Day meal table for 9 for 12 o clock, and after going here last year, for the exact same special day, our expectations I'm not gonna lie were high. Unfortunately, we felt let down as the meal was poor at best. I personally was going to order a chicken parmo, but they had sold out ? It's very strange, but you roll with the punches, so I got a beef dinner . I hate to do this, but it was just not good. Beef was not nice, quite tough, and chewy. Veg was cold, and hardly any gravy we did order more gravy but overall very disappointed with experience . Burgers and chips are also not the best. Thus, it was not a cheap meal, so I must state how disappointed and let down we feel sorry would not recommend here. Staff were lovely shame about food as this was a family occasion organised by brother in law .

We booked our table for 13 for my daughter birthday meal. Staff were brilliant. Fish and chips were superb I would say best we have had in a long time. Steak was over done quite dry but still nice. Venison pice was lovely. However the 4 parmos need working on. They were so dry the sauce was hard Maybe it was a one off ordering 13 meals all at once. Will go again.

Great local pub, a short walk from the Premier Inn I was staying at. Friendly staff, large carpark, outside wooden huts to sit and drink in for when it's sunny. Good selection of beers and plenty to choose from on the menu and the specials board. Really nice decor inside, its quite deceptive from the outside, screens showing sports and not too loud so you cant have a chat. I had the Rib Eye Surf & Turf off the specials, it came with onion rings, chips, and battered sweet chilli prawns, with a jug of peppercorn sauce. Followed by an Espresso Martini Tiramisu Sundae which tasts as good as it sounds.

Went for a belated birthday lunch. The food was delicious, the service was very good. The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful. A very nice atmosphere and the decor was subtly festive. A lovely afternoon lunch. Will definitely go again.

A traditional pub with authentic decor. There are TV's around the pub, and on the occasion I was there, were showing the Euro's. There is a good selection of beers & spirits. The food is excellent with tasty puddings. Prices are reasonable. There are tables in the beer garden & tables undercover for when the weather isn't at its best. Friendly staff & good service for serving the food.
