About This Pub

Oh, chatting about the Wellfield Working Mens Club, it's got this genuine, homely feel that really draws you in, like popping round to a mate's for a pint. The prices are spot on – nothing fancy, but that's the charm, with cheap beers and shorts that let you enjoy a few without worrying about the wallet. The staff are absolute stars, always making sure everything runs smoothly, especially when it comes to sorting out functions; I've heard some lovely stories about birthdays and dos where they bent over backwards to make it special. There's plenty going on too, with sports matches on the screens, live entertainment from DJs, and a good old game of pool to keep things lively. On the downside, it does have that classic working men's club atmosphere, which might come across as a bit old-school if you're after somewhere more buzzing or up-to-date. And with things seeming a little quiet lately, it might not be the first place that springs to mind for a big night out, but that's what makes it a hidden gem for a proper, no-fuss get-together. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in Rochdale and fancy a straightforward, friendly spot to unwind.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Affordable prices on drinks and events, making it a great spot for a budget-friendly night out
  • Friendly and welcoming staff who go the extra mile, especially for special occasions like parties
  • Excellent for hosting functions, with a function room that's perfect for celebrations and gatherings
  • Lively atmosphere with great entertainment options, including sports on the telly, live DJs, and games like pool and snooker
  • Nice outdoor smoking area, adding a bit of extra space to enjoy a chat and a drink
Cons
  • It has a traditional working men's club vibe, which might not appeal to everyone looking for something more modern or trendy
  • Not many recent reviews, so it could feel a tad quiet or under the radar these days
  • As a social club, the options might be a bit limited compared to larger pubs, depending on what you're after

Never mind having a couple of scoops and a game or two of pool or snooker here. Friendly atmosphere, decent beer. Can't fault it .always got sport on decent size TV's unless there's live entertainment/ DJ booked in

We had our Grandaughters 21st Birthday Party there last night and cannot praise the Club and staff too highly. They went out of their way to make her night special (she is in a wheelchair with lots of problems) but nothing was too much trouble. The DJ and bar staff were excellent. Thank you so much.
