About This Pub

Ah, Waggon & Horses – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? With a solid 4.5 rating from folks who've been there, it's clear a lot of people reckon it's a winner. I love how they've got these great real ales at such a bargain price; it's dead cheap and hits the spot after a long day. The live music and entertainment on weekends really liven things up – it's like stepping into a mini party without the hassle. And don't get me started on the beer garden; it's enclosed and welcoming, ideal if you're with the family or your furry mate, as long as they're on a lead. On the flip side, food-wise, it's a bit sparse – just cheese cobs on offer a couple of days a week, so if you're peckish for more, you might need to plan ahead or head elsewhere. Still, it's got that warm, community feel that's hard to beat, and while the beer selection's not as varied as it once was, it's still a solid choice for a relaxed pint. All in all, if you're after a genuine pub experience with some live fun, it's worth a visit, but keep expectations in check for the grub.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The real ales are top-notch and incredibly affordable at just £3.60 a pint – perfect for a cheeky night out without breaking the bank.
  • It's got a cracking atmosphere with live entertainment and music on the weekends, which really gets everyone in the mood for a good time.
  • The beer garden is an absolute gem; it's all enclosed, so it's great for families with kids or if you're popping in with the dog on a lead.
  • It's a proper friendly local spot that feels welcoming and community-oriented, just like the best pubs should be.
Cons
  • Food options are pretty limited – you're mostly looking at cheese cobs on Fridays and Saturdays, so it might not satisfy if you're after a proper meal.
  • The beer selection isn't quite what it used to be, from what some folks say; it's still good, but it could do with a bit more variety to keep things exciting.

Great pub, good selection of beers although not quite as good as they used to have maybe 10 years ago. Beer garden is great though, all enclosed, kids can run around, dogs allowed too so long as on leads.
