About This Pub

Ah, the Vine Inn – it's one of those pubs that really captures the heart of community life in Blackheath, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this fantastic team behind the bar who's all about making everyone feel welcome, and the cobs are spot on for a quick bite. That beer garden sounds like a winner for soaking up the sun with a pint, and the recent refurb has given it a warm, cosy feel that's just inviting. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses; a couple of people have had off days where they felt a bit out of place or dealt with some unfriendly vibes from other visitors, and there are mentions of grubby toilets and the odd issue with rowdy behaviour that could put you off. Overall, though, with a solid 4.2 rating, it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go in with an open mind, and you'll likely have a good time, especially if you're up for that lively local chatter.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff at the Vine Inn are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, welcoming, and ready to make you feel right at home, which really adds to the cosy vibe.
  • They've got some cracking cobs and a lovely beer garden that's perfect for a relaxing pint on a sunny day, making it a great spot for a casual get-together.
  • The atmosphere is warm and homely, especially after that well-deserved refurb, and it's family-friendly too, which is a nice touch for those popping in with kids.
Cons
  • A few folks have mentioned feeling a bit unwelcome or stared at when they visit, which can spoil the experience if you're not a regular.
  • There have been complaints about dirty toilets and even underage drinkers, which isn't what you'd hope for in a local spot.
  • It can get quite noisy at times, as one person noted about their visit, so if you're after a peaceful evening, it might not be the best choice.

I went in for the 1st time on Friday and was made very welcome by everyone. Staff were all fantastic and friendly and couldn't do enough for me. The cobs are lovely. I'll definitely go again and I would go every Friday but don't think my ear drums would take it, this is the only negative about the pub is the music is so loud that you can't talk to anyone and have to go into the beer garden for this. Please please could you turn it down just a faction and you'd probably get more customers. That's the only reason I've given you 4 stars.

Very bad attitude from the manageress. Underage drinkers in there. Dirty toilets, other customers very hostile and rude

Had a cob here very nice, always pop in if im around Blackheath, proper random locals in there but the old saying 'salt of the earth' springs to mind. Great atmosphere evertime we go in, normally around midday, staff are friendly and welcoming, kids welcome too. Nice beer garden also .

Avoid this place! Was visiting the area from Birmingham and fancied a nice cold pint in what looks a nice beer garden. Pub looks alright from the front, decent inside and nice out back, but you're made to feel unwelcome from the minute you step in! Went in the front bar and was stared at like was from another planet and didn't belong and pretty got the same reception in the back bar particularly by cavemen types hanging around the bar like a bad smell which makes it harder for you to get a good enough look at what drink you want to order. Service was non-existent too! Ended up walking out due to the lack of service and hostility and stares. Not sure if they only cater to locals and Black Country folk or not, but I wouldn't recommend coming here unfortunately.

Well deserved refurb and it's definitely put the pub back on the spotlight and what a superb team they have working behind the bar, very friendly and welcoming, nothing is ever too much trouble for them, They're always smiling, laughing and interacting with customers. Very warm, cosy and homely feeling. Had many good days and nights here. Entertainment every weekend, drinks offers and raffles. Children welcome but have to be out at a certain time. (19:00 I think) Freshly homemade cobs 😍
