About This Pub

Ah, The Britannia – it's one of those dependable Spoons pubs that you can always rely on for a good time without emptying your wallet. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the value is spot on; you're getting top-notch breakfasts and well-poured ales at prices that make you wonder how they do it. The staff seem to be on the ball, always ready with a smile and quick service, which really adds to the warm, inviting feel of the place. That bright and cosy design, with its nice lighting and seating, makes it perfect for a relaxed pint or a meal with mates. It's got a real community vibe, buzzing with all sorts of people, and don't forget that beer garden for sunnier days. But it's not all roses – it can get heaving during peak hours, so you might end up waiting a bit, and if you're popping in by car, the small car park could leave you scratching your head for alternatives. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after an affordable night out, with the highs outweighing the minor niggles, I'd say.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Excellent value for money on drinks and food, like that cracking breakfast for under a fiver with unlimited hot drinks
  • Friendly and attentive staff who really make you feel welcome
  • Bright and cosy interior with stylish windows, frames, and comfy seating that gives it a homely vibe
  • Well-kept cask ales, and it's even made it into the Good Beer Guide for the seventh year running – that's impressive!
  • Lively atmosphere that's buzzing and appeals to all sorts, making it a great spot for a chat or a catch-up
  • Lovely beer garden that's a nice touch for when the weather's on your side
Cons
  • The car park is tiny, which can be a right nuisance if you're driving and need to find a spot
  • It gets pretty busy at times, like around midday, so you might have to queue or deal with a bit of a crowd

Great customer service here once again on my most recent visit. One of the best breakfasts I've had in a spoons for only 4.99 plus the unlimited hot drinks for an extra 1.52. Busy at 11.45 > 12.30.

A typical Spoons with toilets upstairs and well kept cask ales. Congratulations on being listed in the 2025 Good Beer Guide for the 7th year in a row 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

This was a superb pub for drinking, with a bright and cosy design! This is contributed to by the lights, styled windows and the frames on the walls. The seating is really nice, staff were friendly and I enjoyed Stowford Press!

Britannia was really busy when I went in. The pub appeals to a wide group of people. The price of the beers was excellent, which obviously drew customers in. The atmosphere was buzzing. I looked at the menu, which was equally good value. Witherspoon seems to have got everything right.

First time been here.found the pub to be light and bright unlike most of Wetherspoons pubs which tend to have subdued lighting. Beautiful beer garden. Found staff very pleasant and on the ball food good value for money will call in again. Only small gripe very small car park
