About This Pub

Ah, the Vine – it's one of those hidden gems in West Bromwich that really warms the cockles of your heart. From what I've gathered, it's got this lovely, old-school feel where you can pop in for a pint and end up chatting away like old mates. The staff are absolute stars, always on hand with a smile and top-notch service, and they've got a cracking range of beers and snacks to keep things ticking over. Now, the food's where it truly shines; folks rave about the curries and tikka, saying they're the best around these parts, and it's all at prices that won't break the bank. But, let's be straight, it's not perfect – the seating's a tad basic, more like a canteen setup, and some punters have mentioned that recent changes have dulled the original character a bit. Still, if you're after a relaxed spot for a bite and a bevvy without the crowds, it's well worth a visit. All in all, it's a solid choice that balances the good times with a few areas for improvement, making it a place you'd happily recommend to a mate.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is wonderfully warm and cosy, making you feel like you're stepping back in time to a proper traditional pub.
  • Friendly and pleasant staff who provide great service, ensuring everyone feels welcome.
  • A solid selection of beers and bar snacks that hit the spot without any fuss.
  • The food is outstanding, with rave reviews for the tikka and curries – often hailed as the best in the Midlands.
  • It's affordably priced, so you can enjoy a good night out without worrying about the bill.
Cons
  • The seating feels a bit like a canteen, lacking cosy booths or more comfortable tables and chairs.
  • Some of the original character has been lost due to changes like those pesky COVID screens, which have taken away a touch of the magic.
  • It might not be the most well-known spot, which could mean it's quieter than you'd like if you're after a buzzing crowd.

Great food. Best tikka in the area. The only reason I don’t give this place a five star is because the seating is like a canteen. It would be nicer if there were booths and proper tables and chairs

Absolutely spot on meal every time a little bit of the magic of the grill experience has gone .. the elder chefs missing new covid screens have removed the character a bit but the place is still the best around..

Best curry in the Midlands on Dartmouth Street. Not many people know about it and I hope it stays that way. Selected days food only. Too many people have preconceptions and I'm glad of it. Carry on going to the 1 minute precooked curry sauce u get in its namesake on Roebuck and other places. I will give a tenner to anyone who can get a better curry anywhere in the Midlands. I've been to 90% of the others.
