About This Pub

Ah, the Victoria Tavern – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute stars, always hospitable and efficient, which really sets the tone for a great evening. The pizzas are spot on, cooked fresh and full of flavour, and paired with a solid range of beers, it's easy to see why folks keep coming back. There's a nice, easy-going atmosphere with a piano and pool table to keep things entertaining, and its location near the tube and stadium means it's super convenient for a quick stop-off. That said, it's not flawless – one person mentioned a bit of a letdown with some drink choices not always being available, which could be a minor niggle if you're set on something specific. Overall, though, it's a welcoming spot that does a lot right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone looking for a good, honest pub experience in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is a real highlight, with fresh and tasty pizzas cooked by an Italian chef that hit the spot every time.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of beers on tap, including gluten-free options, which is brilliant for those with preferences.
  • The atmosphere is lovely and laid-back, with a piano and pool table adding a fun touch without it feeling overwhelming.
  • It's in a prime spot near Holloway Road and the Emirates Stadium, making it ideal for a quick pint before a match or just popping in after work.
Cons
  • One review hinted at occasional disappointments with specific drink options, like scarcities in certain flavours, which might leave you wanting if you're after something particular.
  • The operating hours seem a bit muddled in places, so it's worth double-checking to avoid turning up when it's quieter or not quite as buzzing.

1st time here, ticks all the boxes, can not highly recommend enough, really welcoming staff (including the down to earth doormen) foods cooked fresh, and is really tasty Pizza is a go to as it has an Italian chef. The pub has a really laid back vibe and has a piano and a pool table. My sons a pianist so was in his glory. Laura was so accommodating as wae the manager Jason.

Great Pub, Staff were very Hospitable, Efficient & Welcoming on both days we frequented. Good selection of Beers, Spirits & Wine. Excellent location at the Junction of Chillingworth Road & Liverpool Road, Islington, London for the Emirates Stadium which we were attending for the Arsenal v Newcastle Football Game, its a ten minute walk.

Let me be clear: I didn’t come to the Victoria Tavern looking for a citrus utopia. I came for a cold drink, good company, and maybe—just maybe—a little zest in my evening. What I got instead was a harsh lesson in scarcity, disappointment, and the kind of existential dread that only hits when a bar staff tells you they’re out of limes. Massively out. Monumentally. Catastrophically.

Great local pub and one of the best beer selections in North London. Beers - always a large selection on draft & really nice to see gluten free beers etc make the cut. Bottled choice is good too. Food - can’t ever beat the pizzas and usually very good value for money! Staff - great, they care about the place and their customers and there’s often good deals on too Pay it a visit next time you’re in the area!

🚇Holloway Road 🍺 £5.80 Estrella ❤️ A fun pub for all ages. . The Victoria Tavern is located on a busy junction on Holloway Road and is just a few minutes walk from Holloway Road Tube. . This pub was built around 1860 and beautifully nestles in to the corner plot it occupies. The pub has been painted a bluey green and makes this pub stand out in the crowd from the surrounding shops and restaurants. This pub has had a multitude of name changes in recent years,in 2018 @frontierpubs took over this establishment and reinstated the pub’s original name. . The decor here is bold and pulls no punches. The walls are painted the same colour as the exterior and the ceiling is painted yellow. The servery is compact and has massive orange pendants illuminated it. The seating is a mixture of low level and poser tables, the main seating area is almost hidden at the rear. Upstairs is all about table football and retro gaming, if you want to guarantee a table visit @foosballclub_london for more info. If you’re a live sport fan, there are screens to catch a game. . The beer choice was good and included lots of craft and familiar favourites. I played in safe and had a pint of Estrella, my pint was decent and just under six quid. The food here is pizza, there are plenty to choose from including lots of veggie options and build your own. . The atmosphere was upbeat on this late Friday afternoon with a clientele of all ages. The soundtrack was Oasis,Queen and David Bowie and set a nice tone to the ambiance. The service was friendly and done so with a smile. . On first impressions you would assume this pub is geared up to serve a younger crowd, especially as London Met Uni is literally across the road. This isn’t the case, when I visited there were as many middle aged old farts like me in attendance. The retro arcade games are the games I played as a kid and who doesn’t like a game of foosball with your mates. The @victoriatavern7 is a fun pub which offers decent beers and proper pizza. If you want to chill you can, there’s loads of space to do that. One to check out in 2023. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 11/11/22
