About This Pub

Ah, The George Pub – what a lovely little spot it's turned out to be, especially if you're an Arsenal fan like me. Established way back in 1886, it's got that timeless charm mixed with a fresh refurb, creating a warm, cosy environment that's just perfect for unwinding with mates over a cold beer. The staff are an absolute delight, always greeting you with a smile and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really makes you feel at home. And let's not forget the live sports; they show all the big Premier League and European games, so it's brilliant for soaking up the excitement without missing a kick. Plus, being so close to the Emirates, it's become a bit of a ritual for many, adding to that community spirit. On the flip side, though, the hours can be a tad unpredictable, particularly on Sundays, so you might want to double-check before heading out. The food's mainly just Napoli pizza mid-week, which is tasty enough but doesn't offer much else if you're hoping for a proper nosh-up. And on busy match days, it can get rammed, which is fun but might not suit if you're after a quiet chat. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep those potential niggles in mind for the best experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially for Arsenal fans – it's like stepping into a second home where you can feel the match day energy from the moment you walk in.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel like an old mate right away, which really adds to the cosy, community vibe.
  • They've got a cracking beer selection that's always well-stocked, even when it's packed, and it's all at an inexpensive price, so you won't break the bank.
  • Live broadcasts of Premier League and European matches are spot on, turning every game into a proper event – perfect for catching the footie with friends.
  • It's newly refurbished and feels warm and inviting, with a great location just a stone's throw from the Emirates Stadium, making it ideal for pre or post-match gatherings.
Cons
  • The operating hours can be a bit patchy, especially on Sundays with varying times, so it's worth checking ahead to avoid disappointment if you're planning a visit.
  • Food options are limited to Napoli pizza only during the week, which might leave you wanting more variety if you're after a full meal rather than just drinks and a slice.
  • It can get quite crowded on match days, which is great for the atmosphere but might mean it's a squeeze to find a spot or get served quickly.
  • There's no phone number listed, which could make it tricky to get in touch for bookings or queries, relying mostly on their website or email.

Surprisingly perfect location! Nearby the Emirates and best Arsenal pub💪🏻. When you step in you feel the atmosphere 🙌. Whether you’re here for game day or just having time with friends, you always leave the pub with a smile on your face and sometimes while laughing 😂😂 By the way, cocktails were impressive! Especially Espresso Martini was spot on 🍸 good beer selection too, from local brews to the classic Gunners Lager🍺 The staff were quick, friendly, and somehow totally in control even if the game days. If you have time to pop up, don’t hesitate!!

So close to Arsenal you can hear the roar. Been a season ticket holder for years, and The George is my first stop every single matchday. It’s just a 3 minute walk from Emirates Stadium, you can feel the crowd energy building from here. This isn’t just a pub, it’s part of the Arsenal ritual. Three huge screens with Sky Sports and TNT Sports, pints of Gunners Lager flowing, and full of real Gooners singing their hearts out. It’s the oldest Arsenal pub for a reason. If you know, you know, and if you’re new, you’ll feel like family by kickoff. No better place to be.

An iconic spot for any Arsenal fan, The George truly feels like the club’s second home. The staff are incredibly sweet and treat you like an old friend from the moment you walk in. The beer selection is amazing and somehow, they’re never sold out ,no matter how packed it gets! Watching matches on their three massive screens is an experience in itself. Easily the coolest pub in Islington, great vibes, great people, and a true football atmosphere.

I recently visited The George Pub, and I must say, it’s absolutely fantastic! The pub has been beautifully renovated, creating a modern yet cozy atmosphere that’s perfect for enjoying a match. With their Sky subscription, they show all the major games, including Champions League and Premier League, which is a rare find in the area. The quality of service is top-notch, and I can see myself becoming a regular here. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great spot to watch football with a great crowd!
