About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Tulip Queen, it's got that lovely, welcoming feel that's just spot on for a casual evening out or a family meal. The carvery really stands out – those roasts are packed with flavour and the portions are generous, making it a go-to for anyone craving a proper pub dinner. And on a sunny day, the beer garden is brilliant, with the Order and Pay feature meaning you can kick back without lifting a finger. The staff are generally friendly, and it's all kept nice and tidy, which adds to the homely charm. On the downside, it does get crowded, and you might end up waiting ages at the bar or dealing with a pint that's not quite as fizzy as you'd like. Plus, while some food hits the mark, other bits can be a bit hit or miss, so it's worth keeping that in mind. All in all, it's a solid spot for good times and grub, as long as you're up for a bit of patience now and then – I'd say give it a try if you're in Spalding!

Recent Reviews
We recently booked to stay here & would not again! After a 3 hour drive we just wanted to grab a drink & have a seat, the pub was very busy with no area for guests to sit who weren’t eating - despite several larger tables not being used currently. We asked a member of staff who checked the bookings & pointed us to a small table for 2 that she said had no booking on it all night. 10 minutes after we sat down, another member of the team stormed over & said you have 2 minutes to move off the table, as a couple stood awkwardly just yards from us who had come in for food. We were being turfed off our table for walk ins, even though we were guests at the hotel. We were made to go & stand at the bar, we couldn’t go outside because it was pouring down. We finished our drinks & got a taxi elsewhere, we also nearly sacrificed what we’d paid for the room to find somewhere else because there was a very very strong smell of sewage in the hotel. I would also suggest 2 key cards when there are 2 guests booked in to one room, as it powers the electric & 2 towels would have also been helpful instead of 1! I had checked in 2 guests online.
I did also find the demand to check in online & amount of emails before hand (possibly as also booked through a third party) a bit alarming, I was worried it was a scam linked to the booking due to the information they were requesting.
I have given 2 stars - 1 because despite the smell, the room seemed well cleaned & a decent size.
The bed was also a good size & quite comfortable.
Other than that - a very poor experience.
Clean, friendly, easy parking, near to a few shops. Good size room at a good temperature. Bed is comfy and there were plenty of plug sockets. Hotel is seperate from the carvery by about 20m, breakfast has good portions. The carvery is cheap and mostly self-serve for great portion sizes.
👍🏼Food is pretty good.
🫳🏼Can take a while to get served at the bar.
👎🏻My beer was flatter than the fens.
Edit: I did go to the bar to ask for a replacement beer but the queue was so long I gave up.
Right, the venue is quite popular and it is nicely arranged, clean and tidy all round. Service and staff ....well done guys! It is also very cozy there and it was well time.spent. Now then the food, Sadly no sparks, apart from fries which were absolutely delicious and well fried , the rest was rather at medium level, don't get me wrong, it was edible but ....yeah no sparks. Ordered medium steak got well done, and it was dry.
Overall, I believe it's a good place for a meal so try it for yourself.

Great comfortable and clean atmosphere serving really good portions of very tasty food, my sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, the peppercorn sauce was deliciously creamy and the chips excellent. Shame the carvery wasn't on today and the serving/ordering staff at the bar could be a little more attentive. We will definitely return.
