About This Pub

Ah, Tønne Bar – what a little charmer it is in the heart of Leicester. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's one of those places that just gets it right for a good evening with friends. The staff are top-notch, always up for a chat and quick to suggest a drink or point you towards nearby eateries, which makes the whole experience feel warm and personal. The drinks selection is spot on too; think cracking craft beers and inventive cocktails that keep things interesting without breaking the bank. And the vibe? It's got that perfect mix of cosy and lively, with music that's just the right level for nattering away without shouting over the top. The location's a winner as well, tucked into a lovely area with plenty of outdoor spots to enjoy a drink al fresco, especially on a sunny day. On the downside, though, it's a shame there's no website to easily scope out the details beforehand, and those operating hours can seem a bit confusing at first glance, so you might end up double-checking to make sure you're not turning up at the wrong time. Plus, it does get busy on peak evenings, which could mean a squeeze for space if you're not keen on crowds. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a friendly bar with a bit of character – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but maybe pop in mid-week for a more laid-back feel.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and always ready with a helpful smile and great recommendations, making you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from tasty craft beers to interesting cocktails that really hit the spot.
  • The atmosphere is spot on – cosy and funky with good music that's lively but not overwhelming, perfect for a catch-up with mates.
  • It's in a brilliant location with loads of outdoor seating and nearby spots for a bite, ideal for a summer evening out.
  • There's an upstairs area for a quieter nook if you fancy a more relaxed chat away from the main buzz.
Cons
  • No website means it's a tad tricky to check opening times or the menu online before heading out.
  • The operating hours look a bit muddled with multiple listings, so you might want to confirm in advance to avoid any surprises.
  • It can get quite popular, especially on busy nights, which might make it feel a bit crowded if you're after a more chilled vibe.

a cosy place to stay, waiting for National Express, while all what's left of Leicester at that late hour on a Sunday is already sleeping 😜. Very friendly staff and vibes ... good music...and not to forget: good drinks as well 😂😇🥳

If you like a slightly more upmarket bar then this is the place to come. Its situated in a lovely area with plenty of eatieres nearby with loads of outside seating. Has an upstairs area if you fancy a quieter or more private location, not that this place is loud. It has a lovely selection of craft beers that you can even try in thirds of a pint. Nice to see another bar not serving the standard drinks most places seem to do. Music wide is varied and seems to be slightly towards the classic rock side. None of this pop rubbish you get everywhere

We were standing aimlessly outside this place trying to find a place to eat with our giant dog, the staff came out and pointed us in the right direction which was so lovely of them as they could clearly see we weren’t from around there. We promised to come back and that we did, what an awesome place, they had a great selection of beers on tap loads of fantastic looking cocktails and it seemed to be in a very cool part of town. The place was busy and lively with a great setup. Like I said the staff were super friendly and they love dogs. Will definitely be going back next time I’m in Leicester, even thinking of making a trip specially just for Mowgli round the corner then here…

An up market funky bar, it's a hidden gem amongst the sparkly bars around the are of Saint Martins Square. Very popular on a late summers evening with good friends and family. I went go meet some work colleagues, the atmosphere was good, the music was great, it was at a level where we could have a great chat and enjoy the atmosphere.
