About This Pub

Ah, 33 Cank Street – it's one of those places that really stands out in Leicester for its fantastic cocktail scene. From what I've gathered, it's a go-to for anyone after a well-crafted drink, whether you're into the timeless classics or fancy trying something a bit more unique from their rotating specials. The setting's just lovely, tucked away in the old town with that cosy feel that makes you want to linger over a chat. Outdoor seating adds a nice bonus when the weather plays along, and those little thoughtful gestures, like the flavoured water on arrival, make you feel right at home. On the flip side, it's a shame about that one review where things went south with a staff member being less than welcoming – it sounds like it could happen, so maybe give them a ring ahead if you've got a booking. Overall, it's got that solid 4.5 rating for a reason, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with a positive mindset and enjoy the good bits.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cocktails are absolutely spot on – they've got a brilliant selection of classics and some inventive in-house creations that always hit the mark.
  • It's got such a cosy, intimate vibe in the heart of Leicester's old town, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • Outdoor seating is a real treat on a sunny day, giving you that al fresco feel without straying too far from the buzz of the city.
  • The staff are generally friendly and helpful, with little extras like complimentary flavoured water that add a nice personal touch.
Cons
  • There was one off-putting experience with a staff member who was reportedly quite rude and messed up a booking, which could spoil an otherwise good night.
  • It seems like there might be occasional hiccups with table reservations, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointments.

Very rude staff member (blonde hair lady with a bob) Gave our table away even though we arrived on time for our booking. As we stood outside in the rain she smirked the whole time through the window (clearly very happy with her self that she had ruined our night) not a nice lady at all, hopefully no one has an experience with her as your night might be ruined too.

We visited 33 Crank Street on a warm Saturday afternoon and had a fantastic experience. The town was bustling, but this spot had a large outdoor seating area, which was perfect for the weather. As soon as we arrived, the service was spot on. We were greeted promptly, asked how many were in our group, and shown straight to a table. The server brought menus over right away, and we were impressed by the wide variety of drinks on offer. There was everything from classic and creative cocktails to beers and non-alcoholic options. There were even some weekday deals like two-for-£12 cocktails, which is a great touch. I opted for a Long Island Iced Tea, priced at £10.50. Given it was a Saturday and the drink was expertly made, it felt well worth the price. It was easily one of the better Long Islands I have had. We also ordered some hummus and bread along with nuts. These were great value for money as light bites, and they arrived quicker than expected despite how busy it was. The overall service was impeccable. We never had to wait long, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the city’s Market Place, and the outdoor atmosphere had a relaxed but lively vibe. The clientele were mostly in their mid-twenties, enjoying their drinks in a chilled, respectful way, not your typical rowdy crowd. We also appreciated being able to pay at the time of ordering, which made things so much easier when it came time to leave, with no waiting around for the bill. All in all, a great experience. We will definitely be coming back and would absolutely recommend 33 Crank Street to others.

Popped in Saturday afternoon for a quick drink, hadn't been in before. Nicely atmospheric, super cocktails, had a bowl of jalapeno pretzel bites which were excellent. Complimentary flavoured water on being seated which is a really nice touch. Highly recommended, will be returning 👍

One of my favourite bars in Leicester. They have a great selection of speciality cocktails which is updated relatively regularly, and you can also ask for classics. They also offer a number of non-alcholic cocktails which feel as well thought out as the alcoholic options, unlike some bars where I feel they are very much an afterthought. It's a small venue, so while you can walk in, I'd recommend booking.
