About This Pub
You know, when I chat about the Tim Bobbin Hotel, it's got that real old-school pub appeal that just draws you in. The beers are spot on and won't set you back much, and they've got some solid food options that feel like proper home-cooked grub. I love the atmospheric touches, like the open fire on a cold night or the beer garden when the weather's nice – it's all about that cosy, traditional feel with little private nooks for a quiet catch-up. The staff are dead friendly too, which really makes the place shine. On the downside, though, that no-phones rule is a bit of a head-scratcher; it's meant to keep things social, but it can be impractical when you need to check something quick. Then there's the cash-only policy, which might mean a pricey trip to the ATM if you're not prepared, and without any music or TV, it can feel a touch subdued if you're in the mood for more buzz. Plus, with the latest info suggesting it's closed, it's a pity because it could be a gem for anyone after an authentic, no-fuss pub experience. All in all, it's worth a go if you fancy something straightforward and charming, but keep those points in mind for a balanced visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beers are decent and offer brilliant value for money, making it a wallet-friendly spot for a pint or two.
-
Friendly staff who always make you feel welcome, adding to that cosy, community vibe.
-
A lovely atmospheric setting with an open fire for winter evenings and a beer garden perfect for sunny summer days.
-
Traditional decor with little private rooms that give it a charming, intimate feel.
-
Good food on offer, with home-cooked options that hit the spot without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
The no-phones policy is an interesting idea, but it can be a right faff in practice – leaves you wondering how to sort out the practicalities.
-
It's cash only, which means you might end up forking out extra at the nearby ATM with its steep fees.
-
No music or TV around, which could make it feel a bit too quiet if you're after a livelier atmosphere.
-
A strict no-swearing policy keeps things proper, but it might come across as a tad restrictive for some.
-
It seems like the place might be closed at the moment, which is a shame given its other charms.

Recent Reviews
no point looking at reviews, not allowed phones in pub, not a bad idea but the practicalities of enforcing it are difficult. whats a man to do? take his carrier pigeon to pub and place notes on its talons? beers decent and foods good to be fair
Nice clean and atmospheric. Not your traditional beers you would get elsewhere, however what they have is good value. Staff always friendly. Only downside is that it's CASH only - and the cash machine outside charges exorbitant prices to withdraw your money. Hence the 4 stars. If they got a contact less card machine it would pay for itself.
Sam Smith pub. Not a bad pint, possibly banning mobile phone use soon. Fire in winter, beer garden for summer. No swearing policy. No music/TV. Decent prices on food.
Sam smiths pub, if you love a cheap pint of lager which is always a great lively drink or ale here's your place. Open flame fire and comfy seating. Give it a go.
Recently renovated, excellent traditional decor love that you have lots of little private rooms.
Drinks prices are reasonable. They didn't serve food after the renovation, but I believe that has now changed and they offer home cooked food
