Tanners' Bank, Tynemouth, North Shields NE30 1JH

About This Pub

Ah, Three Tanners Bank – it's one of those hidden gems in Tynemouth that just hits the spot for a good time. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, the place is buzzing with positive energy, especially when you're tucking into those delicious pizzas or catching some live music upstairs. The staff are proper welcoming, like chatting with old mates, and the atmosphere feels just right – intimate and fun without being overwhelming. It's got that cool outdoor space for sunnier days, and the cocktails are a nice touch if you're after something a bit special. On the flip side, those steep steps might give you a moment's pause, and while the food's generally spot on, it's not flawless; a pizza might be a smidge overdone or the chicken tenders could do with more crunch. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, but do check the hours first, as it doesn't open every day. If you're in North Shields, I'd say give it a go – you might just find your new favourite spot!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, always friendly and on point.
  • The pizzas are a real highlight – proper tasty, Neapolitan style, and perfect for a casual bite.
  • It's got a brilliant atmosphere, especially for live music events; that upstairs spot is intimate and adds to the fun.
  • There's a great outdoor area for when the weather's nice, making it a top choice for a relaxed evening.
  • Cocktails are delicious, and the overall vibe is cool and welcoming, ideal for a night out without the kids.
Cons
  • The steps up to the upstairs area are pretty steep, so it might not be the easiest if you're not steady on your feet.
  • Some food items, like the Margherita pizza or chicken tenders, can be a tad overcooked or not as crispy as you'd hope.
  • It tends to be quiet on weeknights, which is fine if you fancy a peaceful pint, but might lack buzz at times.
  • Opening hours are a bit limited, starting from 3 PM and not every day, so you'll need to plan around that.

Popped in for some Pizza. It was quiet as it's a weeknight and it had just been lashing down. Lovely pizza and great vibe. Staff were lovely. Will definitely return without the kids for a proper drink! Our son wanted me to give a 5 star review and I could t disagree!

Visited as part of Stone's Throw music festival. Great atmosphere, upstairs music venue is small but intimate and was ideal for purpose. Pizzas tasty, delicious cocktails available, friendly staff. Steps to upstairs are steep but so long as no one's in a rush, they're easily manoeuvred.

One of the friendliest and coolest bars around North Shields, great outdoor area and a quirky fire baked pizza shack that makes the tastiest pizzas out there. A really great place to spend an evening and the team who work there are like a well oiled machine. 😎

Went to see a number of bands on Saturday, 5th April. All were excellent Cadella ( Liverpool) Harry Eley ( Surrey) and local lad's Diago really enjoyed the whole night. We need to support our local music and talent that's clearly in it or will end up listening to crap that is currently playing on national radio stations. So ladies and gentlemen get out there and support your local talent.

Really nice pub with friendly staff and great food. The pizzas were good. Neapolitan style and overall 7.1/10. The margherita was slightly overcooked but the pepperoni was beautiful and flavoursome. The chicken tenders were decent but I like more crunch / crisp - 6.5/10. The homemade chilli sauce tasted like my local takeaways chilli sauce so I'd probably get one of the other more interesting dips.
