About This Pub

Oh, the Three Horseshoes in Letchworth is one of those pubs that just draws you in with its warm, inviting atmosphere – you know, the kind where you can settle in for a good chat over a pint. I've heard from quite a few folks that the food really shines, especially their Sunday roasts, which sound like a proper treat if you time it right and book ahead; there's a nice variety too, with options for everyone, including veggies and vegans. The service gets top marks as well, particularly when you're in a group or celebrating something special – the team seems genuinely attentive and make you feel looked after. On the flip side, though, there have been a few grumbles about the car park throwing up surprises like penalty notices, which could put a dampener on your evening. And while the menu's generally spot on, it's not perfect; some dishes might not quite live up to expectations, like a gravy that's a bit sweeter than you'd like. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out, but I'd say it's worth going in with your eyes open to those little niggles, so you can make the most of the good bits and plan around the rest.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is just lovely – it's a cozy, welcoming spot that makes you feel right at home, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • They've got a cracking menu with all the pub classics, plus plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, and the Sunday roasts come highly recommended if you book ahead.
  • Service is spot on, especially for larger groups or special occasions; the staff really go the extra mile to make everything smooth and enjoyable.
  • It's family-friendly and dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're popping in with the little ones or your furry companion.
  • A good selection of drinks on offer, from cask ales to cocktails, and it's great for events or just watching the live sport.
Cons
  • There can be issues with the car park, like unexpected penalty notices, so it's worth keeping an eye on that when you visit.
  • Food quality isn't always consistent – some folks have mentioned roasts not being as fresh as hoped, which is a bit of a letdown for a traditional pub lunch.
  • Certain dishes might not quite hit the mark, such as gravy that's a tad too sweet, so it pays to go with what's tried and tested.
  • It's wise to book in advance, as things can get busy and you don't want to miss out on a table.

Met my brother here one evening for a quick drink. We parked separately in the car park and went in through the front door of the pub. We bought a couple of rounds paid by credit card and left. About a month later we both got “penalty parking” notices as we used the car park, but they claimed we had not been customers of the pub. Then the aggressive letters started from the sub contract parking company. Started off with £100 fine. Fortunately We both had credit card receipts from the pub. Not good enough for the car park company though, they’re going full out with their demands. I’m told the pub’s phone has been ringing off the hook with other customers caught out. AVOID this place it could cost me £100 for a quick drink.

We are regulars at this pub, just a few minutes down the road. Love the coziness of the place and the good food too. We enjoy coming for the Sunday roasts, and our experience is always great! Just a tip: booking is necessary. Come early for roasts to get fresh and decent portions. We found that out on Mother’s Day when most of the stuff was sold out. 😝 Also, their kids' roasts are fantastic at just £8 for a decent meal! Services are excellent too! Very friendly and helpful. Thank you.

I decided to take my family out for my birthday as a treat and we decided to choose the three horseshoes in Norton, Hertfordshire. I booked a 12 noon table for four people as I thought if we were having roast lunches early in service they should be freshly cooked. I was very wrong about that sadly to say. The roast beef was cut wrongly along the grain and was grey and over cooked making it very dry. The roast potatoes had been reheated from the day before and were not fresh, because they were dry and hollow inside. The roast parsnips were also reheated from the day before and they were dry and inedible. The Yorkshire pudding was also dry. The carrots were reheated and shrivelled. The broccoli wasn’t any better. The gravy was very salty and very dark and also unpalatable. On the whole, the meal was very, very disappointing. We will not be going back again … Do ZOOM IN TO PHOTO please!!! 2/10 Disappointing very sorry.

We had a lovely experience here for my husband's birthday lunch! We booked in advance as we had a larger group, and had a whole room for our group - the tables were spaced out perfectly so it didn't feel too crowded. Staff & service were excellent, it's not easy dealing with a bigger group but they were very efficient and we appreciated that all our food came out at the same time - which was absolutely delicious (and with great options for all dietary requirements - vegan especially). We will definitely be going back, thanks so much!

Lovely cozy place with lots parking. Wide variety menu of pub grub and portions are just right. The lamb shank gravy was a tad sweet but the lamb was tasty.
