About This Pub

Ah, The World Famous Arkles – what a gem it is, tucked away near Anfield in Liverpool. I've got to say, it's one of those places that really comes alive on match days, with fans from all sides chatting away and that electric buzz in the air; it's just brilliant for a pre-game pint or catching the big games on the telly. The staff are an absolute delight, always quick with a smile and pouring pints faster than you can say 'up the Reds', which makes for a top-notch experience when it's busy. Plus, with deals on drinks and handy facilities like a beer garden for a bit of fresh air and dartboards for some fun, it's easy to see why folks keep coming back. On the flip side, it's a shame they don't do food themselves – you're left to bring in something from nearby or go without, which isn't ideal if you're after a proper meal with your ale. And while the drink selection gets the job done, it's not the most exciting; I reckon they'd win more hearts with a few more unique options. Mid-week, it can be pretty quiet, so if you're after a lively night out any day, it might not hit the mark. All in all, it's a solid spot for football lovers and casual meet-ups, but worth keeping in mind those little niggles for a well-rounded visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially on match days at Anfield – it's a proper community hub where everyone mixes and has a great time.
  • Friendly and speedy staff make grabbing a drink a breeze; Paul's legendary service deserves a shout-out!
  • Decent selection of drinks with some cracking deals, like pints at a steal, and it's got facilities like a beer garden, dartboards, and it's dog-friendly too.
  • Prime location just a short walk from the football ground, perfect for soaking up that pre-game excitement.
  • Family-friendly vibe with options for watching live sports on Sky and TNT, plus it's accessible for all with disabled facilities.
Cons
  • They don't serve food on-site, so you'll have to pop next door for a bite, which might be a bit of a faff.
  • The drink choices aren't exactly adventurous – it'd be nice to see more variety beyond the usual, like a weissbier for something different.
  • It can feel a tad quiet during the week, missing that vibrant energy you get on weekends or match days.
  • The beer garden's a nice spot, but it doesn't always catch the sun, so it might not be ideal on chillier days.

Great pub pre Bruce Springsteen Paul the barman was the best and fastest I've seen out of Spain!! He wants a medal and a pay rise for the amount of people he served on his own!!

Good pub, friendly staff. They don't do food but you can bring in food from the great fish and chip shop next door. Not that adventurous with what's on tap or in the fridge (a weissbier would be a welcome option), but a good place all the same. Grand. Edit: Strange response from the pub to my review after leaving a very positive review. I hope it's a typo.

This pub is a very short distance from Anfield football ground, home to the legendary Liverpool football club. The atmosphere on match day is obviously excellent, as it is packed full of fans in high spirits, especially with the very positive results the local team has been enjoying. This club is actually a global enterprise, inspiring football fans all around the world, and generating a loyal global fan base in the process. Testimony to this is the huge range of football supporter club scarves adorned on the walls behind the bar. Most games, you will find a small group of international supporters in Arkles, in some cases having made a huge journey to catch a glimpse of their heroes and savour the iconic Anfield atmosphere. A very good spot pre and post match to get in the mood and keep the vibe going. Enjoy. Can also bring takeaway from next door.
