About This Pub
Ah, The White Swan – it's one of those pubs that just feels like an old friend, tucked away in Riverside with those gorgeous Thames views that make you want to linger all afternoon. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's brilliant for soaking up the atmosphere; think snug fireside chats in the winter or lively outdoor sessions when the sun's out, with a crowd that's always up for a good time. The drinks are reliably good, and if you're after a solid Sunday lunch, like a proper roast or even some veggie-friendly dishes, it's spot on – I've heard folks rave about the service too, all smiles and efficiency even when it's heaving. But, fair's fair, it's not perfect; a few have mentioned the food can disappoint, with things like overpriced scampi that doesn't live up to the hype, and you'll have to wait until after midday for a proper meal, which might throw a spanner in the works if you're an early riser. Overall, it's a top spot for a casual catch-up, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe plan around the busier times – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep an eye on those food choices to keep things enjoyable.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The riverside spot is absolutely stunning, with lovely views of the Thames and even geese swimming by – it's a real treat for a relaxed drink or meal.
-
It has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere in winter and turns into a buzzing, lively hub in summer, making it versatile for any time of year.
-
The service is spot on, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, and they've got a decent selection of taps and wines to choose from.
-
Sunday lunches come highly recommended; think hearty roasts and tasty options for veggies, perfect for a proper get-together with mates.
Cons
-
Some of the food can be a bit hit or miss – like that pricey scampi and chips that turned out underwhelming, so maybe stick to the drinks if you're unsure.
-
They don't start serving food until after 12 noon, which might leave you hanging if you're popping in earlier for a bite.
-
It gets packed, especially on weekends, so you might need to book ahead to snag a table and avoid the crowds.

Our local beautiful pub. But avoid the food - £14.50 for this packet scampi and cold chips
The White Swan is staple, legendary pub of Twickenham. A cosy pub in the winter and a bustling, lively pub in the Summer. Decent taps and wine. Generally always a lovely crowd. I have been coming for the last 35yrs - from back when it was a pub pub, and when the ‘Garden’ flooded you could sit on the tables and staff would wade in with wellies to serve drinks to the stranded. Wonderful times!
But now a pub has to do food. And the food at the White Swan is very average… frozen, processed burgers for £15.50 with a handful of barely ‘tripple’ cooked chips?! Come on, now.
The Swan leans far too heavily on its constant footfall of locals and visitors alike for its reputation and custom. And it seems happy just do that. Recently an inevitable conglomerate take over has just happened, placing it under the Fuller’s brewery control.
The only thing to say to Fullers is; sort out the food and you have a winner.
Sunday lunch at the White Swan. Enjoyed the roast beef traditional Sunday lunch. Veggies had a stuffed pepper and a veggie burger which they enjoyed. Service was very good in full and packed riverside pub. A few desserts like sticky toffee and a Belgian choc slice with veggie cream(?). Might have liked an apple pie or crumble following roast beef but very good, enjoyed by all.
Super beautiful place for a morning coffee or lunch! Food only served after 12 noon, but you can choose to sit at the balcony or the outdoor area for a drink first. Good to bring a book and sit there to enjoy the river Thames view with the gooses swimming around.
An excellent Sunday lunch at The White Swan. Not that many tables, so we'd reserved for 3x in advance, but just a few days before. The weekend before Christnas, so we were pleased to be fitted in.
A lovely table right by the bar, immediately friendly service, a drink for me, whilst waiting for the rest of the party. The Sunday roasts were excellent, great pudding as well.
