About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The White Lion – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a proper, no-fuss get-together. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is spot on; folks are raving about the curries and Sunday roasts, with big portions and flavours that stick in your mind. It's got that old-school charm with friendly service that makes you want to linger over a pint, and the garden sounds like a brilliant spot for sunnier days. Prices are spot on too, so you won't feel like you've overspent. On the flip side, it does seem to cater more to an older crowd, which means it might not be the place for a high-energy night if you're after something more vibrant. And do keep in mind, it can get packed for meals, so popping in without a plan might leave you out in the cold. All in all, it's a solid choice for good grub and a chat, but it's worth knowing what you're in for to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is an absolute winner – think delicious curries, hearty Sunday roasts, and generous portions that leave you more than satisfied.
  • It's got that classic, welcoming pub vibe with friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
  • Great value for your money, with reasonably priced drinks and meals that don't break the bank.
  • The garden is a lovely spot for a pint on a sunny day, and it's family-friendly, which is always a plus for a good day out.
Cons
  • It tends to attract an older crowd, so if you're after a lively, buzzing scene with younger groups, it might feel a bit quiet.
  • Things can get busy, especially for lunch, so it's wise to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
  • If you're not in the mood for food, it comes across more as a drinking spot, which might limit the appeal for a full evening out.

Wow! We decoded to try here for the first time for a nice lunch and we were so impressed! We decided to try the curry with naan and mango chutney and I can honestly say it was one of, if not, the best curries I have ever had!! Beautiful flavour, and a really big portion! The mango chutney was absolutely delicious. The owners were really friendly and always nearby when you needed anything! We will absolutely be returning and would highly recommend!

The friendliness and hospitality of this pub will take you back to when pubs were the focal point of villages and somewhere you would want to frequent often. The food is on point and the landlord takes pride in his ales and choices of beers. A great local pub you will return to time and time again.
