About This Pub

So, I've been having a look at The Wheatsheaf in Stockport, and it's one of those places that really stands out for a good night with mates. From the reviews, it's clear folks love the fantastic atmosphere – whether it's a country and western night or karaoke where everyone's joining in and having a laugh. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming, with the landlady and DJ adding to the fun by getting involved, which makes it feel like a proper community hub. It's got all the classics like pool and darts, and with a solid 4.5 rating from plenty of happy visitors, it's no surprise it's a favourite. On the flip side, a couple of people mentioned the loud music outside can be a bit overwhelming if you're hoping for a peaceful pint, and the lack of a car park means it's best to sort out your transport in advance. All in all, it's a brilliant spot if you're up for some lively entertainment, but maybe not ideal for a quiet catch-up – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area and fancy a bit of a knees-up.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing – it's a proper lively spot for karaoke nights and events that make you feel right at home.
  • Staff are brilliant and welcoming, with the landlady and DJ going the extra mile to keep things fun and engaging.
  • It's got great entertainment options like pool, darts, and themed nights, making it a top choice for a memorable evening out.
Cons
  • The music can get a bit too loud outside, which might spoil things if you're after a more relaxed and quiet vibe.
  • There's no car park, so it's handy to plan ahead with walking or public transport, especially in Stockport's city centre.

I have not been to this pub for fourteen years, but on Saturday 26th I went with work colleagues for a curry for my retirement and ended up in The Wheatsheaf. The Staff were brilliant young and vibrant, it was karaoke and everyone felt at ease the locals were very friendly. It was a good atmosphere and all had a great time.

Kind of just average to be honest — but the decorations are quite unique to this establishment, and it seems a fairly good-natured, and humoured place but the loud music outside should perhaps be toned down… it’s usually wherein those of us who love peace, and quiet frequent

Fab! It's by far the friendliest pub I've found in Stockport. My son is a singer and he loves the Karaoke in here. The landlady is great. So friendly and welcoming. The d.j is fab too. He will jump on the drums and get involved with the singers. Honestly, I haven't a bad word to say. Considering we were strangers walking in there, we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. 10/10 Highly recommended 👌
