About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Wheatsheaf in Ealing, it really warms my heart – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper local hideaway, tucked away from the hustle of Ealing Broadway. The vibe is spot on for catching live sport or just enjoying a pint with mates, and they've nailed the food side with fresh, seasonal dishes that go beyond the usual pub grub. Being family-friendly and welcoming dogs adds to that homely charm, and the refurbishment has kept things rustic while adding modern perks like big screens and free WiFi. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; I've heard a few grumbles about the reservation system feeling a bit off, like walking in on a quiet Sunday only to find tables held for who knows what, which could put a dampener on your plans. Overall, though, it's a solid spot for good times and great chats, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just maybe book ahead to avoid any hitches!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely brilliant, especially for sports fans – it's got that lively, welcoming vibe on big event days that makes you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers and ales, being a Fullers pub, with everything from craft options to classic cask brews that'll satisfy any ale enthusiast.
  • The food is fresh and tasty, with refined pub classics and inventive small plates like squid and wings, all made from seasonal ingredients – perfect for a hearty meal.
  • It's wonderfully family-friendly and dog-friendly, with features like board games, free WiFi, and even baby changing facilities, making it ideal for a relaxed day out.
  • The rustic charm mixed with modern touches, like big screens for live sport and bookable spaces, gives it a cosy yet versatile feel for all sorts of gatherings.
Cons
  • The reservation system can be a bit puzzling at times, like having tables booked in an otherwise quiet pub, which might leave you waiting or feeling underwhelmed on a spontaneous visit.
  • Some folks reckon it's not quite living up to its classic roots in the current setup, with a few niggles that make it feel less reliable than it used to be.

Excellent atmosphere for a pub with a sports bar feel on major event days. Modern pub menu, squid, wings and small plates are well thought and presented.

Has always been a decent pub and a classic backstreet staple. Not sure the current incarnation is doing the job though. Friendly staff granted. Having nearly all the tables reserved on a Sunday without a time on the reservations in an empty pub is strange though. After an hour the pub was even emptier than when arriving. Very strange. Empty revered spaces don’t spend money, people do. Couple that with £6.90 for a pint of Heineken it was a bit overpriced too. Same pint at Haven Arms was cheaper and a nicer pub at that, with no admin about where to sit. Look after customers who are there, not theoretical ones!

Love this pub which has become my local since moving nearby recently. Great beers and ales on tap (it’s a Fullers pub). Football on the telly (lots of Liverpool fans so it would appear). Nice grub including a generous Sunday Roast.

A great pub. It's called the Wheatsheaf for a start, already a winner! A great modern well turned out establishment, retaining a real cozy feel to it. A wide selection of cask and keg on offer along with a fine 'pub' menu if you are hungry. The staff are lovely, although I though a kp was being given a beating out the back until the delightful lady on the bar assured me it was the chicken schnitzel being prepared! All was good. Great place, well worth a visit.
