About This Pub
Ah, The Wheatsheaf – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles from the moment you step in. I've got to say, the staff are brilliant, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really sets the tone for a top evening. The live music scene is where it shines, with a proper stage for bands and that electric atmosphere that gets everyone joining in. Pair that with a cosy spot by the fire and the claim to the best Guinness around, and you've got yourself a winner for unwinding or having a laugh with mates. On the other hand, it does tend to fill up quickly on busier nights, so you might end up elbow-to-elbow, and the opening times aren't always straightforward, which could throw a spanner in the works if you're planning ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after that authentic pub experience – just go with the flow and you'll have a whale of a time.

It's got a brilliant atmosphere, especially with top-notch live music that really gets the crowd going.
-
The cosy front bar with a roaring fire is perfect for a warm, relaxing pint on a chilly evening.
-
They serve the best Guinness in town, and it's a great spot for a quiet drink or a lively band night.
-
Fun extras like the pool table and dart board in the back area add to the entertainment without any fuss.
Cons
-
It can get pretty heaving on weekends, especially during band nights, which might make it feel a bit cramped.
-
The operating hours seem a tad unclear from what's listed, so you might want to double-check to avoid disappointment.
-
As a smaller venue, it doesn't have loads of space, which could be a downside if you're after something more roomy.

Had a superb night! Bob and Sofia are diamonds! Best Guinness in town! Music was excellent! The atmos was just brilliant! The Wheatsheaf is back!
Great music venue, has a big back bar area with a pool table and dart board. Also this area has a raised stage for bands to play on. The fire is always on in the front bar so is warm and cosy.
Small but mighty. Great character, clearly hosted a good few bands over it’s time. Had a band I manage, Indecisive, play there last night. The hospitality and friendliness of the staff – not to mention the expert handling of a drunk guy who was getting way too close to me and my friends – was top tier. I think they were called Jodie and Ben; can’t recommend them enough. Ben really did provide the lead singer the freshest water, so thank u Ben.
Great atmosphere. An established venue for live music. Always a receptive audience. Played there on 6th July 2018, with my band The Underdogs. A very warm evening and an absolute blast. If you're in the area or want a venue hosting quality live bands then it's well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.
Great friendly atmosphere with fantastic staff. A good place for a quiet drink during the day and some evenings. But come the weekend it's heaving, especially on a band night. Alternative music. I've been using it for many a year 30+ and still loving it like the first time.
