About This Pub

Ah, Ollie Vees – it's one of those places that really stands out in the local scene, isn't it? From what I've gathered, it's a family-run bar that's all about that authentic Polynesian Tiki charm, with hand-carved decor and a collection of fine rums and cocktails that'll transport you straight to the islands. I love how they've got such a variety of events on offer, like live music nights, ukulele lessons, and even Dungeons and Dragons sessions, which make it a brilliant spot for mixing things up and having a laugh with friends. The staff sound like absolute stars, always going the extra mile to make sure you're having a good time, and the atmosphere is just cosy enough to feel welcoming without being overwhelming. On the downside, though, it's not open every day, so you'll need to keep an eye on their hours if you're keen to pop in, and that smart dress policy might put a damper on impromptu visits. Prices are fair for what you get, but it could sting a bit if you're out for a budget night. All in all, it's a top choice if you're after something a bit different from the usual pub crawl – honest, it's got that special something that keeps you coming back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cocktails are an absolute treat – hand-crafted with real attention to detail, like those incredible lychee daiquiris and mai tais that pack a punch and leave you wanting more.
  • The staff are so welcoming and knowledgeable; they clearly take pride in what they do, making every visit feel personal and enjoyable.
  • The Tiki decor is spot on, creating a cosy, immersive Hawaiian vibe that's perfect for escaping the everyday and diving into something a bit exotic.
  • There's a brilliant lineup of events, from live bands and open mic nights to ukulele jams and board games, keeping things lively and offering something for everyone.
  • They've got a spacious outdoor area and stay open late, which is great for those summer evenings or when you fancy a proper night out.
Cons
  • It's only open four days a week, so you might have to plan your visits around their schedule and miss out if you're spontaneous.
  • The smart dress code means you can't just pop in casually; it's worth checking if you're dressed up enough to avoid any disappointment.
  • With moderate prices, the drinks can add up quickly, especially for those hand-crafted cocktails, so it might not be the cheapest spot for a casual pint.

They’ve made efforts improving music and bringing fantastic live bands. I now love it. One thing that makes them unique appart from the decor is their 2d floor where you’ll find table games such as chess, cards etc, the terrace. Well done! My new favourite in town because they also close late and don’t just rush you out.

Easily the uniquest bar in Leighton buzzard. Amazing cocktails made with attention to detail and the best taste. Their mai tai blew my head off, was absolutely incredible. They’ve got a large selection of cocktails and even serve bottled beers. Inside has a cozy feel to it, the interior is all bamboo including the stair rails and has a lot of Polynesian memorabilia on the walls such as masks. It genuinely feels like you’re on holiday when you walk in and the beach is just outside.

Absolutely brilliant cocktails - very strong but you get what you pay for! The bar lady I spoke to on Thursday clearly takes pride in her work and serves quality drinks you'd expect in London and as my 3rd time here - the quality never lessens. Nice and funky inside and in all honesty Leighton is lucky to have such a gem of a bar! Wish it hadn't taken me so long to discover it.

We love Ollie Vees and chose it for our first trip to a bar since March. They've made a big effort to introduce COVID-19 measures and now have a spacious outdoor seating area and canopy. Contact details taken on entry for track and trace. Cleanliness levels really high. The new staff seem lovely, too! Always such a nice atmosphere with the lovely music. Give it a try - it's such a unique place :)
