About This Pub

Ah, The West End in Coalville – it's one of those pubs that really comes alive with live bands and a proper party vibe, especially if you're into rock 'n' roll or just fancy a night of karaoke and quizzes. From what I've gathered, it's a top choice for events like New Year's bashes or works dos, where the atmosphere gets buzzing and the staff pull out all the stops to make things enjoyable. You'll find it inexpensive overall, which is a plus for a casual evening with friends, and it's got that casual, welcoming feel that's just right for groups. On the downside, though, it's clear the place hasn't had much of a facelift lately – think dated decor and toilets that aren't quite up to par, which might make you hesitate before settling in for the long haul. The beer selection gets a thumbs down from some, with advice to go for bottles instead, and prices can sneak up on you faster than you'd like. All in all, it's worth popping in if you're after a lively spot with entertainment, but keep in mind it has its rough edges, so go with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a good time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got a lively atmosphere that's perfect for live music and rock 'n' roll evenings, making it a cracking spot for a fun night out with mates.
  • Friendly staff who really make you feel welcome, especially during events and parties.
  • Offers a great range of activities like karaoke, quiz nights, and bar games, ideal for groups looking for some entertainment.
  • Upstairs room is brilliant for hosting parties with discos, and it's praised for its welcoming vibe during special occasions.
Cons
  • The place feels a bit dated and in need of some serious TLC, which can put a damper on the overall experience.
  • Beer quality isn't up to scratch, so you're better off sticking to bottles if you're after a decent pint.
  • Toilets are not in the best shape, which might leave you wishing for a bit more upkeep.
  • Drinks can be on the pricey side, as one visit might set you back more than expected for a simple round.

This pub has always wanted some money spending on it to be really good. Unfortunately it never has been gifted the opportunity. Poor beer only drink out of bottle. Toilets not good.
