About This Pub

Ah, M&M Steakhouse – it's one of those places that really warms your cockles on a good day, tucked away on High Street in Coalville. I have to say, the friendly faces behind the bar and in the kitchen make all the difference; you'll often get a proper welcome that sets the tone for a lovely evening. The menu's a treat too, with solid options that cater to steak lovers, and when it's cooked right, it's spot on with generous portions and flavours that linger. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect – there are times when the food doesn't quite deliver, like steaks that turn out underwhelming or sauces that could do with a bit more punch, and that's frustrating when you're looking forward to a great meal. Still, the staff often step up brilliantly to sort things out, which is a plus. All in all, if you're popping in for a bite, it's worth giving it a go for that homely feel, just keep in mind it might not always be a five-star affair, so maybe check the timing or book ahead to avoid any hiccups.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The menu offers excellent choices, with steaks that are often cooked just as you'd like them, and the portions are generous.
  • It's a small, cosy spot that provides personalised service, which really adds a nice touch to the experience.
  • When it's good, the food has great flavour and hits the spot, leaving you with a full heart and a satisfied belly.
Cons
  • Service can be inconsistent, like when there's no one around to greet you straight away, which might leave you waiting.
  • Some dishes fall short, with reports of poor quality steaks that are badly cooked or lacking in flavour, which is a real shame.
  • There have been issues with having to pay full price for meals that weren't up to scratch, even when staff handle complaints well.
  • As a smaller place, it might feel a bit hit or miss on busier nights, especially if you're hoping for a seamless seating experience.

Recent Reviews

Good people, in light of local businesses closing, I'm compelled to write this review ( it's with a full stomach and very much full heart ). Upon entering there's a very warm welcome, menu choice is excellent, can't fault service. Must say , while Coalville has its restaurants, which are excellent, I now have to be a regular with M and M. The chef must have my comment, being young but, what a head on his shoulders, he certainly knows his way around food. Micheal/ Chief, thank you and let's do it again soon. Table for 2, 4 next time

Walked in to find no staff to greet me, waited for about 5 minutes before someone appeared from the back. Was unable to be seated even when the restaurant was over half empty. No tables were reserved. Looks like if you don't book your not wanted. 1 star is very generous as I didn't even have the chance to sit down

Poor quality cuts of steak, poorly cooked, served to our table last night. The young lady who served us was brilliant and dealt with our complaint in very professional manner. Being told however, I still needed to pay the full price for the 3 full meals and sides, we had refused, and returned to the kitchen because the steaks (its a steakhouse) were tasteless, chewy and inedible, was absolutely shocking. After a lot of back and forth, a very angry gentleman came to our table, presented a card reader in front of us, told us to pay for our drinks and then to 'get out'. He also told us after we had paid, we weren't welcome back.

Lovely place , friendly staff. Steak cooked as asked. Just a couple of personal tweaks would make it 110%, a bit of salad / garnish would be nice and a bit bigger jug of sauce with a bit more flavour would be great ,I had blue cheese and my partner had diane both were lacking in flavour, but easily could be changed by chief. Thank you for a lovely evening and a lovely steak

Yes, it is a small establishment, but that meant we got personalised service and some really good food. The portions are not small and the flavour is there. Small menu but that meant it was easier to choose from. Will certainly take my mom back there for dinner.
