About This Pub
Ah, The Vine Bar – it's one of those unpretentious Edinburgh spots that really captures the heart of a traditional pub. From the reviews I've had a look at, the staff stand out as absolute stars, always ready with a smile and a chat, which makes for a welcoming atmosphere that's hard to beat. Whether you're popping in for a quick pint or to catch a match, the place seems to have that genuine community feel, with locals being super friendly and prices that won't leave you out of pocket. On the downside, it does lean towards the regulars, so if you're just visiting or not from around Leith, it might not quite hit the mark – some have mentioned it feels a bit cliquey or that there are occasional letdowns. All in all, though, if you're after an authentic, no-fuss pub experience in Edinburgh, it's definitely worth giving it a go for a bit of that local charm.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's got that classic local pub atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed pint and some good craic with the locals.
-
Prices are super decent, so you won't break the bank for a few drinks.
-
A great spot for watching matches or enjoying a casual evening out.
Cons
-
It might come across as a bit too focused on the regulars, so if you're not local, it could feel a tad exclusive.
-
Some experiences have had a mixed bag, with hints of disappointment creeping in despite the positives.
-
There's no website or clear operating hours listed, which makes it tricky to plan a visit in advance.

Cracking little local, would highly recommend.
Lovely place to have a drink great craic an the staff are jus lovely people 😀
Was in on Saturday last week as I work as a carer and I had two clients with me from Perth they wanted to watch the Hibs V St Johnstone match, pub was was great both members of staff looked after the boys who have learning difficulties and both staff members were very patient, on a more disappointing note I overheard a female at the bar shouting towards one of the boys "you cant plug your phone in pal until you buy a drink" her name was Marie I believe she was very rude the other locals who I was sitting beside said she is very nosy but I thought it was disrespectful shouting across telling him he can't plug his phone in until you buy a drink at least let him get settled first, unfortunately after the football ended we left as we didn't feel wanted by her otherwise we would of stayed and watch the English football match, and because she is a local we won't return unfortunately
Been to the vine several occasions if want pint, good atmosphere not bad, classic sort of local, tourist may not appreciate.
Christmas day drinks, we are travelling from London and we just pop in to get a bit warm and have a few. The local people were super welcoming and wished us a merry Christmas. Super decent prices and a nice place to have a small break from visiting Edinburgh 👍🏻
