About This Pub
Ah, The Travellers Home – it's one of those classic local pubs that really aims to be the heart of Bexleyheath, with staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and a menu packed with fresh, tasty options that cater to all tastes, including some great vegan and vegetarian choices. I love how they're involved in the community, lending a hand with fundraising and opening up their space for local doings, which gives it that extra bit of charm for a relaxed night out or catching up with friends over a pint and some solid grub like their flame-grilled burgers. On the downside, it's not without its flaws; you've got to watch out for the occasional slip-up, like food arriving less than piping hot or a few drinks not quite hitting the spot, and the bar ordering system can get a bit fiddly when it's busy. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back visit, but I'd say it's best to pop in with an open mind and perhaps avoid the rush hours to get the most out of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and always ready with a warm welcome, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They focus on fresh, quality ingredients for their menus, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, and the prices are honest and fair without breaking the bank.
-
It's a proper community spot, supporting local charities and offering their function area for free to groups, which is a lovely touch for events or gatherings.
-
The food hits the mark for pub grub, with standout grilled meats and sizzling skillets that folks rave about, perfect for a casual meal with mates or family.
Cons
-
Service can be inconsistent at times, with some reports of cold food or dirty glasses, which puts a bit of a dampener on the experience.
-
A few complaints about certain items tasting off, like bland sausages or soapy drinks, so it might not always live up to expectations.
-
Ordering at the bar can feel a tad chaotic, especially if you're in a larger group, and it doesn't quite flow as smoothly as table service would.

Service was poor. Food was cold. and tasted horrible. Glasses were dirty one had lipstick round the edge. Knives dirty was changed 7 times before finding a clean one. Lemonade tasted soapy. Coke tasted horrible, Mashed potatoe out of a packet and veg sausages very bland and hard.
A mix up with food orders meant our food arrived slightly cold. However, the staff were apologetic and resolved the issue quickly and very professionally. The best treatment I've ever had eating out. Charlie was especially helpful. Great staff, good food.
Great food and service! Will be back 100%
You have to order at the bar. We were a group of 8 and the service was very good. Food was good with the best probably being the grilled meat. The should probably do a Roast on Sunday lunchtimes though.
Another visit to this local pub and restaurant proved very satisfactory on Tuesday evening. The staff were very polite and helpful and the food was great. The venue offers a good mix of pub and restaurant atmosphere, whether you pop in for a few drinks or book a table for a family celebration. You will be pleased with both. Well done The Travellers.
