About This Pub
Ah, The Three Goats Heads – it's one of those pubs that just makes you feel right at home the moment you step in. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; folks are raving about the Black Angus burger and fish and chips, all done with that proper care you don't always get these days. The staff are brilliant too, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels looked after, whether you're a local or just popping in as a tourist. It's got this unique, cosy interior that's a nice escape from the busy streets, and I love how they promote that digital detox – it's like a gentle nudge to put the phone away and enjoy the moment. On the flip side, it's a quieter spot, which is great if you're after peace and quiet, but it might not suit if you're hoping for a more energetic crowd. Oh, and the beer selection is a bit limited, no Real Ale to speak of, so if that's your thing, you might want to keep that in mind. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed afternoon or evening out – I'd say give it a go if you're in Oxford, as it's got that winning combination of good value and genuine warmth.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think juicy Black Angus burgers and perfectly crispy fish and chips that leave you wanting more.
-
The staff are a real treat, always friendly and attentive, like Patrick and Sue who go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
-
It's a lovely, quiet haven away from the hustle of Oxford's streets, with a unique interior that's cool and refreshing on a warm day.
-
The atmosphere is spot on for unwinding, with that 'digital detox' vibe encouraging good chats and a proper relaxed feel.
-
Being inexpensive and open every day from midday, it's an easy choice for a casual get-together or a quick bite after exploring.
Cons
-
It's a bit short on beer options, like no Real Ale on tap, which might disappoint if you're after a wider selection.
-
The place can be quite quiet, especially on off-peak days, so if you're in the mood for a lively buzz, it might not hit the mark.
-
One or two reviews mentioned things feeling a tad incomplete, like a comment that got cut off, but overall, it's not a major issue.

Really enjoyed my visit to Three Goat Heads in Oxford. I had the Black Angus burger and it was delicious, you can tell the chef knows their stuff. The service was friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
This is an amazing quiet spot to get away from the business of the streets outside. Nice and cool on a hot day too. Unique interior (see photo) + Samuel Smith Beers on tap. No Real Ale. Patrick the Barman was friendly and nice.
I enjoyed a delicious fish and chips meal with my parents at this lovely pub. It’s clean and welcoming, with friendly staff. Sue was especially kind and attentive, going out of her way to assist my elderly parents! Definitely coming back!
Dropped in on a quiet Tuesday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was solid—hot, crispy fish and chips and a fresh, satisfying hummus plate.
The vibe was great, with stylish decor and a clear emphasis on unplugging. Loved the “digital detox” signs encouraging real conversation over screens—such a refreshing touch in today’s world. A cozy spot to relax, eat well, and truly be present.
The atmosphere is great. The bartenders and regulars are very friendly and didn't shy away from a random conversation with a tourist. They made us feel very welcome which prompted us to go back the next day. I also enjoyed the food, it was very welcome after a decently long day in Oxford. They didn't have onion rings anymore but compensated with extra ice cream on the pudding.
