About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Plough Inn, it just brings a smile – it's one of those classic Oxford spots that's been around since 1656, mixing that timeless appeal with a fresh twist that makes it feel inviting for everyone. I love how they've kept the traditional pub atmosphere alive while throwing in things like shuffleboard and a solid menu of British favourites alongside pizzas and sharing boards; it's perfect for a casual catch-up with friends over a pint of local ale or a cheeky cocktail. The team there are absolute gems, always making sure you're looked after without being over the top. On the upside, the food hits the mark every time – think generous portions of roasts and pizzas that leave you satisfied, and it's all at a moderate price that doesn't break the bank. But, to be fair, it's not without its little niggles; if you're with a bigger crowd, you might find that not all spaces are open, like the upstairs bit, which can make things a touch inconvenient. And while most dishes are spot on, a few have been noted as a bit light on the plate for what you're paying. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out in Oxford – I'd say give it a go if you're after good vibes and a bit of history, just keep those small details in mind for a smoother visit.

Beautiful pub, lovely, friendly staff, our second visit in 3 days, we're only in town for 3.5 days from Blackoool. If we came back we'd definitely come here again for food & drinks & would definitely recommend it to others. Nice atmosphere & food was great and not overpriced. We had a bread & dip sharer the first day which was lovely, came back 2 days later for tea & had baked Camembert sharer to start & I had one of the BEST beef burgers I've ever had (I'm incredibly fussy) & my fiancé had sea bass & thoroughly enjoyed it saying it was cooked perfectly. Well worth a stop in x
Wonderful pub conveniently located walking distance to many tourist attractions.
Plenty of seating options both inside and outside. If those spots are full, you can always try the upper level.
We ate the bread, hummus and olive 🫒 platter. It tasted good but I thought a little short on some of the items.
The staff were friendly and efficient.
A great place to sit and watch the buzz of city life.
Spent three hours here with a tour group. At the end of our walk, we stopped here for a rest and refreshments. The local beer DEYA was peachy and nice.
Good foodThere was 8 of us and we had booked. Had a table upstairs but they didn't open the upstairs bar which was a bit of a faff for so many of us up and down.
This was by far and away the best meal my husband has had while visiting London. He had the trio of roasts and the plate was clean. Maria did an excellent job with all three of them. Our server was also great! I had pizza and it was huge and delicious! Five stars all around!
