About This Pub
Ah, The Sun – it's one of those classic neighbourhood pubs that really pulls you in with its warm, community feel and unbeatable drink deals, making it a top pick for a casual catch-up or watching the big match. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are generally lovely and quick to make you feel welcome, and the prices are a real winner if you're trying to keep things affordable on a night out. Plus, with extras like the pool table and dart board, it's easy to while away an evening with friends without getting bored. On the flip side, though, it's clear the place hasn't had a facelift in a while, so it can come across as a bit tired and dated, which might not appeal if you're after something more contemporary. Service isn't always spot-on either, with a couple of mentions about staff being a bit short or unhelpful, and being a wet-led spot, there's no grub on offer, so plan ahead if you're after more than just drinks. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub enthusiasts looking for good value and a genuine local vibe, but it'd be even better with a bit of TLC to spruce things up.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
Prices are spot on for a good night out – brilliant value compared to other pubs nearby, so you won't break the bank.
-
There's plenty of entertainment with a pool table and dart board, perfect for a fun evening with mates.
-
It's a great spot for catching live sports like rugby or football on the big screens, with a buzzing atmosphere that really gets you in the spirit.
-
As a wet-led pub, it's all about the drinks and community vibe, which is ideal if you're just after a solid pint in a local setting.
Cons
-
The decor feels a bit outdated and could do with a refresh – it's not the most modern spot, which might put some off.
-
Service can be hit or miss; a few staff members weren't as helpful or chatty as you'd hope, which dampens the experience a tad.
-
No food options on offer means it's not the place for a full meal – you'll have to head elsewhere if you're peckish.
-
It might not suit everyone if you're after something more polished, as the overall look and feel is quite traditional and worn in places.

lovely friendly pub...rate it 100%
The sun is a great little pub.
The staff are welcoming and the prices are brilliant in comparison to other pubs nearby.
There is a pool table and a dart board so some good entertainment.
The only down point is that it looks a little dated.
It is a great place to meet before going to Leighton Town FC and is especially good when there's a bit of sun in the sky.
Friendly staff and atmosphere, good service but could do with a little refurbishment. Overall, it was a nice friendly pub for a drink
Great little pub, friendly faces. Wet led so no food option, perfect.
First time I have been in here for about 20 years. Friendly door staff, not overly helpful bar staff, not all of them but the one I spoke with because I couldn't read some of the bottle fridge drinks and she was very short, borderline rude, when answering questions. The decor does not appear to have been updated in decades. Still, drinks are relatively cheap and with a large outside seating area/car park it made for a pleasant couple of hours. I'm not sure if you can blame the clientele on the management...
