About This Pub

Ah, The Station Hotel in Billingham – it's one of those classic pubs that feels like a proper community hub, you know? I've got to say, what really stands out is how friendly the team is; they're always up for a chat and make you feel like a regular from the get-go. The prices are spot on too, especially for the carvery on Sundays or if you're after something gluten-free – it's dead affordable and hits the spot for a relaxed meal. Plus, with all the entertainment on offer, like DJ nights and sports on the big screens, it's a cracking place to unwind with mates. On the flip side, though, the food can be a mixed bag; some days it's bang on, with generous portions and tasty options, but others might leave you a bit disappointed, like when the roasts aren't quite up to scratch or the flavours don't quite sing. Still, it's got that warm, unpretentious charm that makes it worth a visit – just maybe go for the drinks and atmosphere if you're not in the mood for a full meal. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, as long as you keep things balanced and enjoy the good bits while being prepared for the odd off day.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, always making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's brilliant value for money, with affordable meals and drinks that won't break the bank, especially for a good Sunday carvery or gluten-free options.
  • They've got a great vibe for a night out, with DJs on Fridays and Saturdays, karaoke on Sundays, and plenty of entertainment like TNT Sports, Sky Sports, and a pool table to keep things lively.
  • The beer garden and large car park are real perks, making it easy to pop in for a relaxed afternoon or evening.
  • If you're staying over, the hotel rooms come highly recommended for a comfortable night's sleep after a good meal.
Cons
  • Food quality can be a bit inconsistent, like with the Sunday roasts where some visits are spot on and others leave you wanting more, such as meals that feel underwhelming or not as fresh as they'd like.
  • A few folks have mentioned the flavours falling flat, like the Yorkshire puddings or gravy not quite hitting the mark for a traditional pub grub experience.
  • It might get a tad tricky if you're after a seamless service, as one review noted a wait to get attention, even if they did sort it out in the end.

Cheap and cheerful Sunday Carvery. We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in after about 5 minutes of trying to attract someone's attention. We got a medium sized dinner I got beef and pork and greedy guts husband got all four 🤣. You get plenty of meat. There were at least ten different types of vegetables to choose from together with thick beefy gravy. Will definitely be back.

Excellent attention to details when cooking and serving my gluten-free food. Would highly recommend!!! The staff are lovely ladies and very friendly and welcoming and the chefs are the same. The food is beautiful 😍 and the value for money is amazing it's cheaper eating here then buying and cooking yourself at home.

Went for Sunday lunch and was a bit disappointed. Found the meal to be lacking in flavour. Yorkshire pudding did not taste fresh and the gravy was not home made. Shame, because the staff are so incredibly welcoming. Maybe a good place for drinks but if your a foodie looking for traditional home made meal this might not be the place for you. Sorry for the three stars Station Hotel 😢
