About This Pub
Ah, The Crafty Cock – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is where it shines brightest; think delicious, locally sourced meals with a Mexican flair on certain nights and those unbeatable Sunday roasts that folks rave about. Pair that with an impressive lineup of drinks, from fine ales to a whole host of spirits, and you've got a recipe for a great evening. The vibe is genuinely friendly, making it easy to settle in for a chat or catch up with friends over a pint. But, let's be straight, it's not all beer and skittles – a couple of comments highlight the decor as a bit underwhelming, almost like it's still shaking off its past as a cafe, and there are times when the food doesn't quite live up to the hype, with some bits not cooked just right. Still, with such a strong overall feel-good factor from the reviews, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a solid pub experience in Billingham – just go in with an open mind and maybe plan around their schedule to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons

They've got a brilliant selection of drinks, including over 90 spirits, local ales, and brews that cater to all tastes.
-
The atmosphere is so welcoming and warm – it's like popping round to a mate's for a pint, making every visit feel special.
-
Events like comedy nights add a fun twist, turning a simple night out into something memorable and lively.
Cons
-
A few folks have mentioned the decor feeling a bit dated or more like a greasy spoon than a proper gastro pub, which might not wow everyone.
-
Some dishes can be hit or miss, like certain veggies being a tad overcooked, so it's not perfect every time.
-
The operating hours seem a bit unpredictable, so you'd want to double-check before heading over to avoid disappointment.

The food here is outstanding, and second only to the welcome. Whether I've been here for a beer (with the dog), mexican tapas (outstanding), Sunday dinner (unbelievable) or a comedy night (hilarious), I've always had the warmest of welcomes, delicious real ales (but also loads of other drinks, you don't need to be a CAMRA member), and a great time. Can't recommend it enough
Really good place this. Great selection of drinks. The food is very good - tapas nights and Sundays dinner. They do a comedy show once a month which is always really really good. Thoroughly recommend.
A converted greasy spoon cafe posing as a gastro pub. Shocking food. Terrible decor.
Somewhere I might expect to go for a bacon sandwich and a brew.
Avoid at all costs. It's possibly the worst place I have ever been for a Sunday lunch
Had a great Sunday lunch today. My wife choose the Small lamb dinner and I choose a trio of Pork, Beef and Lamb. Have to say the meats are the best part of the meal. The parsnips were a bit too tough for our tastes. We shared a dessert of Salted Caramel Cheesecake with ice cream which was delicious. Highly recommend as almost perfect.

Nice little micro pub opposite the Station. A few ales in tap and serving food. Didn't have time to try the food so can't comment on it. Would definitely be happy to go back in.
