About This Pub

Ah, The Star Pub & Kitchen – it's one of those places that really stands out in Leighton Buzzard for all the right reasons, but let's keep it real and chat about the ups and downs as I see them. First off, the food is an absolute winner; we're talking generous, well-cooked meals that leave you feeling chuffed, like those Sunday lunches that folks rave about with their lovely atmosphere and quality ingredients. The staff are just brilliant too, always polite and efficient, making sure everything runs smoothly – it's that kind of service that turns a simple meal into a proper occasion, especially for family days out. They've clearly put in the effort with the refurb, giving the place a fresh, welcoming feel that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up. On the other hand, it's a shame it's on the pricier side, so if you're planning a cheeky night out, you might want to keep an eye on the wallet. And while the sports screens add to the buzz for some, they can be a bit overwhelming if you're not keen on football dominating the scene, which might spoil the cosy chat. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after good grub and a friendly vibe, but just weigh up those little drawbacks before you pop in – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant – generous portions, well-presented, and packed with flavour, making it a real treat for a Sunday lunch or any meal out
  • Service is top-notch with friendly and attentive staff who go the extra mile, like offering fizz for special occasions, which adds a nice touch
  • The atmosphere feels welcoming after their refurb, creating a cosy spot that's great for families or casual get-togethers
  • It's got a solid vibe for enjoying quality pub grub, with plenty of positive vibes from first-timers who wish they'd discovered it sooner
Cons
  • It can be a bit pricey, which might put some off, especially if you're after a more budget-friendly pint and meal
  • There are too many TVs blaring sports, which doesn't suit everyone and can detract from a relaxed chat over drinks
  • A few minor niggles with specific dishes, like the mushroom arancini not quite hitting the mark with its sauce, though that's not a deal-breaker

A fabulous Mothers Day meal! We visited as a family of 11 for Sunday lunch on mothers day. We were so well looked after...the 3 mums got a glass of fizz! Everyone loved their food and the service was really efficient...highly recommend!

Lovely lunch today decided to give it a try after the refurb after seeing some advertisement of the food on Facebook. Food was great the gent serving was attentive and polite. Only criticism is the mushroom arancini would be better with a mushroom sauce instead of tomato & the large TV to be on during the day also. Other than that couldn't fault it. Love that you allow dogs. Clean and tidy, modern, really made the place lovely inside. We will definitely be returning! ( one more thing ) I went to book a table online but it said there was nothing available until 1.15pm but as we arrived the place only had 1 table in. May be a glitch with the system but we was close to driving past thinking you were fully booked at 12.45. Keep up the work all the best x

Not going to lie, very expensive - however, the food service was fast, which helped as we were purchasing for impatient little ones! The interior looked lovely, obviously money spent to make this pub look welcoming. The staff were attentive and extremely helpful in every way. Will definitely come back again. Thank you.

The food was excellent, generous portions, well presented and very tasty. I didn't like the atmosphere, just too many television sets showing football, which isn't something I like in a pub. However, I would go back again and so would my friends who were with me. We did like the food, although we did have to wait longer than we would have liked, as service was slow.
